Hi All,
I know it's not gooey but perhaps someone will have one... I'm looking for a gearbox (that sits directly on top of the motor that drives the colour change disk) for a Crestworth Galaxy, one the cogs in mine has gone brittle and snapped. I'll take a whole motor / gearbox assembly if preference is not to separate. I'm based in the UK but happy to buy from abroad; please let me know what you have and cost.
Thanks!

it's a regular problem with these lamps, I'm sorry to say - and always the gearbox
So these parts are virtually unobtainable now... I believe some skilled and painstaking collectors have managed to repair them themselves, but the usual way round the issue (short term anyway) is to convert to a colour-changing LED
Not quite as subtle as the colour wheel, but at least it's reliable... one thing though - if you do go this route, source a programmable one with memory
(You may get lucky, the odd complete assembly does come up occasionally)
Thanks Andy - I'll keep my eyes open for a replacement motor assembly. I love the gradual transition between colours so don't think the programmable LED is an option for me. I bought this lamp knowing that the colour change wasn't working (so got it for a fair price), but it looked to be in better cosmetic condition to the one I already had. This was confirmed upon receipt so I've just switched the gearboxes and now have a really nice working example and will sell the other one whenever I get it up and running. Thanks once again!
I converted mine to LED and it worked great, the slow transition from one color to another was seamless
I think i have a motor inkl gearss from another fibre optic which I could sell you for an unreasonably high price which will awaken your urge to make me suffer greatly. I'm in germany though, so postage will be super extra dhl style expensive as well.
Ok I lied, I try to keep prices at a reasonable level...the motor is real though :)
Btw there are two versions. 1 rpm and 2 rpm
Hi Arne, sounds good but the motor/gear assembly for the Galaxy is 0.5 rpm (or 1R2M as it says on the back of the motor). Do you happen to have one of those please?
Cheers!
