Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Dear Mods,

Many moons ago, I started a group on this site, after a... disagreement with "Lord Voldemort" (this is the name I'd prefer to use in reference to a former Mod, who is now banned and infamous) I was kicked, and my group was deleted. It had A LOT of good information for making, maintaining, and troubleshooting Lava Lamps. It was called "Lava Ninjas," I'm wondering if it, in some way, still exists and can be reactivated.

It's probably space dust, but I thought I'd at least ask.

No sorry once its gone, its gone. And trust me, I know how this feels... I've been banned myself (twice) and I've been around for a long time so I had years and years worth just deleted with one push of a button. And usually when a member is banned and they've created a group, the group stays, but he must have deleted your groups too. You can feel free to make another group but I think there maybe already be a group that covers the troubleshooting of lamps.

That's just wrong. Seems to me these mods had a bit too much power. Not sure exactly how this all went down but seems if a member's years of contributions are gonna get wiped out with one push of a button, it should be a decision agreed upon by all mods and then ultimately the administrator who makes the final call.  js

No your exactly right and thats why things changed quickly around here and why us mods are much better now then it ever has been. Honestly, the fact that Visino had the same issues with him makes me wonder how many other people he did this too and they are no longer coming back. I just hope this only encourages them to come back and see the changes.

My group covered much more than troubleshooting:

How to make goo.

How to alter/improve bases.

How to wire lamps.

How to make coils.

How to make custom bases and use custom bottles.

etc...

There was a lot of information lost, this honestly makes me very sad. I'm afraid I will not be starting another group here, but will stay a member. If I make a "base of knowledge" it will be on my site and I'll post links, I can't invest this kind of time... and see it blow out the window....

Lava nijas? Thats funny. That by all means shows true dedication to the cause.

we do have a lava library that a lot of us have been working on for along time now (after the bad mods left) so if you want to contribute to that you can since a lot of people do.

And jsut a heads up Mark does not allow links for other outside lava lamp sites and why would he? lol jsut a heads up

I have a site that's dedicated to "Good Ideas."

It's for Writers, and Tinkerers of all varieties. It's not a "Lava Lamp" site, it's a site dedicated to the expression of ideas and making them happen. Lava Lamps are a part of that, they are not by any means the main point; and I've no interest in stealing members from another site; that's not why I'm here.

To be honest, your resource is limited (http://oozinggoo.ning.com/page/lava-library), there's a lot of work that can be done to make it more effective (for instance; I know of five excellent ways to clear a cloudy lamp) I've done a lot of research, and have had a lot of fun.

...I can't put the info here again; maybe it's revenge on "The Voldermort's," maybe I'm petty.

If I post links here and they're deleted, I'll stop posting.

I take it back... I'm not going to post an links. I don't want to detract from this site or casually swipe anyone. I just wish the group hadn't been deleted. I wish this site hadn't been ran by elitist, self-righteous, jerks for 3-4 years. I just need to work on my site and make it something.

Thank you all for being awesome.

If you say its not a site dedicated to strictly lava lamps, then you have no reason to worry about anything then, I just thought I'd be cool and give u a heads up on whats not allowed. Also oozinggoo has been around for long, long time dude and the subject of cloudy lamps comes up on a weekly basis, so I'm pretty sure OG has all the answers lying within its database about cloudy lamps. You just have to search for it. The lava library (mind you it isn't that old) is intended to help people find all their answers in one spot and it will always be a work in progress and forever changing. So if you think its limited then please contribute to it, if you dont want to post here because of a ex mod who hasnt been here in over a year then that's not our problem lol sorry.  You input is always welcome but if you refuse do it here on OG then whats the point of being a member? S

Dude you dont have to preach to us about how it sucks having your group deleted. I had way more invested in this site then you did (no offense to you) and I was ragin when that happened to me but the bottom line is that its in NO WAY liek that here anymore. Just stick around, contribute and see for yourself  Vision that's all we can tell you.

Vision, I hope you can heal from all that soon. I don't mean that in a condescending way...I'm not a troll. It's awful that that happened to you, and I've had similar things happen to me. I know how awful it feels.

But if your trust can be regained, I think you'll be glad to be back. :)

...But make html backups, just to be sure. LOL!

Seriously though...deleting a group started by a banned member is unfair to the other members of that group. I'm glad that's not done any more. :)

Dr. What,

I was very attached to this site, I contributed my heart out (I was banned 5 times over 3 years). Comparing your work vs mine is inconsequential. Damage is damage, and damage is done. It's wasn't my design to preach; though it may have turned out that way, I'm sorry for ranting. Have a nice day.
