I think what you're talking about is the heat ring. Some Centuries have them, some don't.
Andy has posted a pic of one here:
And when I was inquiring about one, he informed me you can kinda "make" one out of tinfoil. See here:
The heat ring would go in BEFORE the bulb, I think. What specifically about the flow isn't good?
Thanks for the replies and info everyone!! Kempton it is marked 71 on the bottom. The globe is not the kind that the top is screwed on, it is a cap and the bottle cap looks like my 90's era 32oz lamps when spencers had every color ever made. I dont know about dating these things, but thats what I have! The globe works great on a current generation base from china with a 40 watt bulb, so the heat ( or lack of ) seems to be the issue. I did put a 50 watt r20 indoor halogen in it and it worked like crazy, so I think the dimmer thing is the route I will take if I cant find, or make a heat ring. I also have a Carlisle that works better on a 90's base with a appliance bulb than on the base it came with. Any suggestions for that one? I appreciate everyones time and help!!
it's a rare thing to find. Nice collection dude, I am kinda intrigued to get that designer lamp you have. Where did you buy it and get it so clear, I think the old display boxes are so cool but haven't gotten one yet.
