I only have two, no way am I gonna ruin one of them, and I probably would!!
What kind of socket extenders are you using? I'd like to try one on my green Grande.
I ordered another brand, but they sent me these, Alfred. They work, and they're cheap.

Alfred - whatever you get, make sure it's porcelain, not phenolic.
Yup those are the ones I got too (Marley sent me the link :) ) And thanks to their errors and then a broken one in shipping I ended up with several extras. I ordered 2 and ended up with 5 working ones. I might try popping one in this heritage and see...the only issue I had w/ the other Grande was I was pretty sure it was making the bulb touch the globe, but I was able to pound down the bottom of the base a bit where the socket is mounted and gain about 1/4 inch of clearance so I know its not touching now. THat lamp has been running like a champ now, and gets going in about 4 hrs which isn't bad for a Grande. I hate like heck to start modding a new lamp though...its one thing on the one that's several yrs old.
They're porcelain, Rob.

You're most welcome, Alfred.
It's in the wee hours of the morning here, and with the socket extenders, I actually had to dim my heritage grandes down quite a bit during the day yesterday. They look a bit sluggish in the early morning cold (it's around 60 degrees in my old house), so I'll just turn the dimmer back up to full. : >) Really LOVE these lamps, guys!

There's no way I can run my two Heritage Grandes (vers. 1.0) now without the socket extender in these temps. They would have to be wrapped in their towels at all times, since house temp gets down to 66 at night, and is usually still too cool during daylight hours, unless we have a "heat wave," which is rare . I installed the socket extender in the Pink Grande yesterday morning and it spiked in 4 hours. Normally, it would still be doing the "flip" with coils showing and barely spiking in a spot or two without the extender. It took 8 to 12 hours to flow completey before, and now it takes about 5 hours for full flow.
I left it on full blast all day yesterday and it didn't begin to overheat until late last night. For the first time "ever" I used the dimmer, but just a bit. I got up during the night and it had cooled down so much in the house that the lamp had a "blob spike" in the bottom. Just frozen in place. I immediately turned the dimmer back up full blast and this morning it was flowing fine. I just now dimmed it a little again, and so far, it's flowing beautifully. No towels needed at all. I'd rather not use a socket extender either, or the dimmer, but then I wouldn't be able to enjoy these lamps until Summer again or be forced to use the towels to wrap them up, which is very aggravating and unattractive to boot. All these Grandes should have been made with the bulbs closer to the globe as LL is now doing on version 2.0. I do not appreciate having to tweak these lamps constantly to get them to flow properly, although the Grandes are gorgeous lamps and I really like them. I already have a socket extender on my Heritage Green too, but haven't turned it on yet.
On another note, my Y/R Century is now the base for a 52 oz. China Red Glitter and the glitter barely moves, which doesn't surprise me in the least. Two weeks of fiddling with that lamp was ridiculous, and the new bulb proved useless on my Heritage Century.
