Plasma lamp interfering with my PC

Does anyone know if or how electro plasma lamps interfere with computers.

 

I've a large lamp beside my iMac and laptop. When the light is on the trackpad doesn't work properly; this only occurs when I turn on the light.

 

My Mac also recently suffered screen burn but I'm not convinced this is connected to the lamp.

Does anyone know more?

You know plasma lamps are weird as far as electrical interference goes. I have a big 12" sphere plasma lamp, and when I had it setup in my old apartment, I also had this tall floor lamp that was a touch sensitive one. All you had to do was touch the lamp and it would turn on (3 levels of dimming too) and off. And when I had the plasma globe on all i had to do is touch the plasma globe and my touch sensitive lamp would turn on and off as if I were touching the tall floor lamp itself. What was really weird is that the lamps weren't even on the same electrical outlet. So I think the plasma globes have some sort of electrical interference with other electronics.

Is there a way I can use the lamp and prevent it interfering with my equipment?

I say cover the plasma with tin foil and while your at it make a nice hat for yourself too. LOL.

dont like them lamps, used to have a warning on em if u had a pacemaker in ya heart, my old mathmos faze 2 used to interfer with audio equipment i used to get a buzz noise out of the speakers

I have a surge protector. My laptop isn't plugged in to anything though and the trackpad still stops working when i have it on the same desk as the lamp. weird
