"...I wonder if the lamps I'm customizing have a 52oz or 250oz model? I would LOVE to find one of those!"
The more I get into motion lamps, the bigger I'm inclined to go. The 52oz century that I'm (hopefully) about to get will be my biggest lamp so far. I want a grande!
But back to cylinder-shaped lamps...as a lot of people here know, I kinda love them. I tried to imagine a 250oz one of these, then the next day I see this on ebay:
I'm afraid I have to have that.
I'm also afraid that I will NOT have that, as it's listed on ebay for $400. :-/
But it's 20 inches tall! Considering how short the base is, that's gotta be a 250oz globe on there.
WANT. SO. BAD.
Didn't someone already post something about this style lamp on here? I know I saw something like it, but I assumed it was the flared version of the same 32oz model that I have...now I don't think that is the case. I think the original poster was asking "what is this?" or something, but I've searched and searched, and I can't find it.
Does anybody know what this is, where it's from, etc?

I know this is an active auction, and if that's a problem then I will remove this ASAP...but I didn't link it directly, it's mis-listed, It's also RE-listed, at the time there was only 1 person watching it, and that was me, and I think this is just a more uncommon Chinese import lamp. I doubt it's really even worth what they're asking for it. But again, just PM me if you want me to pull this thread.
I used to have this same one. These were sold at stores like Spencer Gifts circa 2000 for $29.99. They were made in China. The glitter in this is iridescent. They were also made in a shiny chrome base. I see them occasionally in thrift stores real cheap but I pass em up. I informed the seller about this and he responded by lowering his starting price from $450 to $400. Still an outrageous price.
i have one like this (my daughter stole it from me for the time being lol). purple liquid and and irredecent glitter. it has a sticker on the bottom that says liquidteck. its 18 and a half inches from bace to cap though i dont think its 250 oz. i paid $5 for it at a flea market its a nice lamp and the glitter doesnt stall. idk what that seller is thinking with that $400 price tag though...geeze :P
heres a few pics of mine

Oh snap! Now I remember! :p
I would love that! Thank you! :D Does this have the recessed bottle at the top for the cap, and the bottom for the base? It looks like it does, and I love that little touch. I wonder why they are listing it as 20 inches? Are they rounding up? It looks like their cap might be a little bit taller...I wonder if that accounts for the extra height.
...But...didn't you say you wanted another one for yourself?
Oh, and do you think this is about 52oz? I know that amount isn't an international standard, but I noticed that the Chinese test tube lamps are all 20oz exactly, and the cylinder lamps I'm selling are exactly 32oz, so I figured it might be possible that it continued on up the line.
no prob :)
i wouldnt mind having another but im trying to keep my collections (and i have several different ones lol) to a minimum and im currently obsessed with the older 52oz lavas at the moment to they take priority lol.
yes your right the cap on mine is shorter. it also has ridges on the side...may be the worng cap on mine or they may not be the same lamp after all. if i had to guess id say its 52oz maybe more. its def bigger than 32oz. the globe is slightly recessed on both ends and the bottom of the globe has ridges in the glass kinda like threaded to fit to the base. i can take a few detailed pics for you if you like :)
That is a cheap Oozy Glo lamp, I think? They aren't worth more than about $15. I think that iridescent glitter gets eaten pretty easily, too.
Don't buy that lamp Loren!!! The seller thinks he has a Gemlite and he does not.
Oh, I'm definitely not going to bid on that. Even if I had that kind of money to spend right now, I don't want to spent $400 for that. I mean, I love it and all, but I don't want to reward people for being way too greedy, or willfully ignorant.
Oh, and to Tiff, does the bottle on yours have a regular bottle cap on it? Thank you so much for your info you've given me already. If this is a problem then don't worry about it at all, I was just curious. :)
Loren - I have this same exact lamp at home, sitting in a box getting dusty. I don't think I have a cap though. Please shoot me a note if you may be interested. I can likely provide an estimate on number of ounces by comparing the globe to an Excalibur globe (which I do believe is 150 ounces).
Here's mine...along with a rocket I thought was a Telstar. This site has really helped me since then and still does in IDing lamps. Great reference site. <3
