Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

.so last week i won this on ebay. i thought a cloudy yellow/orange us gen1 coachlite. turns out its a greenish color with yellow wax. it has a weird metal lid and the coach top does not fit over it all the way to line up with the holes in the rods. the cord is white with a push button swich. what the heck do i have here? and how do i get this lid off so i can work on it?

LOL - sounds if someone got creative with their electrical work.  Is the socket/bulb UK or US?

heres something else funny, idk what kind of cord the gen1 had but the cord on this looks like a crestworth cord and says 240v on the switch but it has a US plug head. what up with that?

If its screw top I am thinking its most likely a US globe on your Crestworth base.  A new Astro globe might be a dandy consideration.  Wait to hear back from the UK collectors though - someone will certainly set you straight.

yes. it comes off.  i got the lid off. its a screw top it was on really tight so i thought the metal piece may have been cripmed on or something. what is up with this lid? is this a US globe?

Hmmmmm, I see what you mean with the cap.  Does the whole bottle (metal cap included) not lift right off of the base in the state this lamp is pictured in above?
