Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

This is it! This is the first custom liquid and base on a glitter lamp! It's orange liquid with silver glitter and a matte black base. The matte paint turned out great! I'm still not ready to anodize, so people that want that will have to wait a bit, but the glitters and lavas that only need to be painted can be ordered now. :)

I've decided to order either an orange or a yellow glitter lamp.  That is, either orange liquid/orange metallic base and cap OR yellow liquid/yellow metallic base and cap.  I love how the orange glitter bottle in this picture looks - lively and full of glitter!  Is there any way you could create me a picture of an orange liquid/orange metallic base/cap and a picture of a yellow liquid/yellow metallic base/cap to help me decide?  I'll probably get the orange combo because it's my favorite lamp color but would like to see the yellow combo, maybe I'll order that one down the road.  Too bad about the red color, eventually I could see getting a deep red lamp with an interesting contrast color base/cap.

I have tried purples, and have made a good purple and lavender. My attempts at violet, however, were not so successful yet. The red I'm using is very weak, it seems. Which side is "royal" on? I've looked it up, but apparently there is widely varying opinion what constitutes royal purple.

Oh, and about the globes, I can't order them. :( I wish I could. I wish I could order the glitter juice, bases, globes, and uncut glitter stock all separately, but they won't do that, sadly.

Can you do a dark royal purple liquid?

Also: Can you order extra globes? LOADS of us want globes vto use for refilling. I need at least one.

And ok, Erin! One of these is yours, just let me know whenever you decide!

Oh yeah! Sorry, I forgot to respond to your question about the height of these lamps. They are very close to 15 inches tall, and about 4 inches across at the base. They are about 1 inch shorter than a 32oz midnight. They are 100% aluminum, and the visible window is 7 1/2 inches.

Oh, and things have calmed down a LOT since we got moved out here. :) I got through jury duty and getting the lamps, now we just have to finish moving my dad's stuff AND our stuff out of his old condo, unpack it, and put it away.

That looks excellent! Put me down for one. Just don't know what color combo yet...

Excellent!  I'll sure take one.  I need to decide which colors to try, I'll let you know within a day or two.  There's so many great ones I really need to think about this.  Oh and don't worry, I won't order anything wierd like deep shamrock (although it sounds kind of interesting-just kidding!)  Just a few questions-how tall are these lamps?  what material is the base and cap made of?  How many inches of the glass bottle show when it's in the base and has the cap on?

Sounds like you're really busy, I hope all goes well with your moves and other issues.  Maybe when it's all said and done you should take a vacation!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it! :)

I'm selling them for $40, and that includes your choice of liquid and painted base. The only glitter color available right now is silver, but lava is available in a LOT of colors. I'm still trying to find ANYBODY who will sell me a custom anodizing setup kit without forcing me to buy a bunch of expensive crap that I don't need...wish me luck on that.

I'm also waiting for my shipment of goo and dye from magma tower. I got 1 of each color dye, plus they can be mixed, plus the amount used can be varied to yield more colors! I also found a black oil-based dye which I have not tried yet.

I think the best thing to do at this point would be for me to start a new thread about orders. I will try and do that tonight. I'll likely just take orders for plain silver bases and painted ones for right now. I'll take anodized base orders when I get that up and running. It might also be easier for me to just ask people what colors they want, and try my best to facilitate them...the list of paints available to me is VAST, so that's why I say that. Also, if I bought one of each color, I would soon be broke. I'll have to buy them as I need them. I already bought some staple colors like red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white...etc, but no "cream puff" or "deep shamrock"...you know? :p

The website is another thing that is still sadly lacking. I've been crazy busy with moving my dad, and then moving myself, jury duty, and 2 health issues...but that has GOT to be finished! I can still sell these through ebay in the mantime, but I want that site up ASAP.

I love the color of this one, Mark.  It's really stunning.  How tall is it?  What would you ask for one of these lamps?  Hopefully you'll produce anodized bases/caps eventually so if I got one of these now, I could get an anodized base and cap for it later.  What colors can you make?  I know you had the list made up, but not sure which of these colors you're offering.  This is so beautiful, great job!
