Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

...Partly thanks to Simon. :) Thanks, Simon!
I already had the jet, but it's taken forever for the wax to settle. It was all the way up at the top of the bottle, and I couldn't get it down, no matter what I did. I finally gave up and put this beautiful lamp away, but when I took it out again, the wax had finally fallen back into place completely! I still need to get step-up adapters for these, so I can run them!

Thank you very much, sir!

And the virgin US run of the astro went off beautifully, pictures are going up soon! You can't really tell it in this picture, but the wax was actually upside-down. The coil had to fall down through the melting wax, before it could flow. This also left a smeared ring of wax around the bottom of the globe, and a few wax smears along the glass. I know already that mathmos formula is a bit softer than US lavalite formula, so I think this is normal...but my jet didn't do that, even though the wax migrated from top to bottom. In any case, after running only one time, all wax smears are improved, and I imagine that further running of the lamp will clear these issues even more. It is a real stunner, and even if the wax doesn't clear up on the glass, I will still love this limey lamp!

I got the adapter today, and right now I'm running the jet FINALLY!

Been a while, Loren!!   Hope all is going well with you!    Most of my Mathmos lamps have been re-wired, and I know you could re-wire that Jet and not have to buy another converter.  Those things weigh a ton and take up way too much room.   I think Kirk posted some pics and so did Autumn and Erin, if I'm remembering right.

Hey, MG! Long time no see! :p I already bought the adapter that I posted. I have a feeling I should have gotten 2, one for each lamp, but I wanted to see how the one went first. And yes! I have my eye on a smart astro next, or a metallic orange one like I've seen around here. That is definitely my dream lamp...

Thanks, Critter! I love the color, the liquid is billed as "yellow", but it's actually more like topaz, or pistachio, but not quite that green. I think the best way to describe it is "vaseline glass", from the 20's. The yellow variety had just the slightest tinge of lime green in it...just beautiful. I can't wait to see how it looks in person when it's flowing...

I'll see if I can find the converter I bought for the Astro Baby Pete sent me and send you the link, Loren.  I was running it on a US wired Telstar base, but wanted it running on the correct base it belonged on.   We love our "Limey" lamps, Rocket Man!! XX

Thanks, Keith! I saw that, but for one thing, ebay sellers can and do say anything, and for another thing, I just wanted to be sure.

And thanks also, Pete! And it's okay, the most frustrating thing for me is finding good lava which is affordable, and getting it. Once I've done those two things, all in good time for the rest. :) I am patient.
