Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi folks,
I have managed to get my new 52oz. LW red/clear to run without over-heating by using a dimmer.  I have left it on for 8 hours in the easy, slow flow that I like.  What I'd like to do now is dim the amount of light shining through the lava, and especially on the sides of the globe. I don't want to cut down on heat, just light.

I was thinking of using a high-heat black paint to coat the underside of the globe. Is there a better way to cut down on light without losing heat?

Thanks,
Sean

Wow, I didn't even know they made 30w bulbs. Thanks Bohdan!
Tin foil over the bulb will cut the light without cutting the heat.

Do the frosted bulbs help to get rid of the yellowish tint to the clear liquid at all???
I haven't tried them, but I think that the GE Reveal bulbs might.
