Howdy Brummy Bill.....
Are you an alcoholic...lol.......can't say's i've ever seen a whisky bottle as large as a Lunar bottle. If one exists I doubt it would be safe to use as lava bottles are made out of heat resistant glass (Pyrex).
IMO your best bet would be to buy a new red / violet Lunar bottle from Mathmos @ £69.00 and transplant the contents into several smaller bottles :)
Hi Bill
yes you are right, although the whiskey bottles tend to have a ridge around the bottle near the base which means it wont fit. i know this because i bought one years ago!
the size is correct but fear not as Mathmos DO sell empty lunar bottles. i enquired myself this year to customer services and they quoted me £20 + shipping for it so i would go to them as I assume the glass is tempered to take the heat.
:)
FYI Pete ;)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LARGE-BELLS-WHISKY-whiskey-BOTTLE-4-5-LITRES-...
this is the size Bill is referring to and it is the same size as a lunar bottle.
but note the ridge under the label, this is why it wont fit.
:)

Lol - apparently he was a bit of a hippy so it wouldn't surprise me.
TBH I wouldn't mess around with empty lunar bottles, just get a full one from Mathmos or off ebay. - Refilling a lunar bottle from other astros or other lamps is a bit dodgey considering the batch variance and if you want to get a lunar working nicely its worth paying for the good mathmos stuff and not trying to refill it using a goo kit or a home brew.
Hi Pete, you know that living in Brum we had M&B's,Ansells brewery and Davenports in the city, I honestly don't like whisky more of a beer man...lol.
Hi Ford Perfect-NPNG, I did phone Mathmos on Thursday about an empty lunar bottle and was told they don't sell them, it was a woman I spoke to didn't get her name. Wonder if an email would be better?
Hi Richard, I will try to do a search on ebay for that seller you are on about are these actually the same lunar bottles that Mathmos sell.
Hi Tim Gill thanks for you reply.
Hi Orbitz, have you had any problems when running the whisky bottle in your lunar?
Hi Bill....
Call again and ask to speak to Harry Simmonds quoting OG....... :)

Mathmos are notorious for telling one thing to one person and then something else to another. send them an email instead as I think when people call they are always told stuff like they dont do empty bottles OR customs.
it all depends who you speak to, i know it shouldnt be like that but unfortunately it is! :)

Hello Lunar adorers
Just in case anybody is still interested in empty Lunar bottles and screw caps. There's a guy in Germany selling some. I bought one from him and it fits perfectly. The screw cap looks like the original one. So finally I can have different bottles for my one Lunar base :-).
Send me a PN for further information.
