Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi folks,

I would really ike to hear comments from anyone who has sucessfully (or not) tried to refill Fluidium bottles - either complete wax/liquid changeovers, or liquid replacements using Mathmos Astro contents.

This is partly because I want different colourways, but also i want the mathmos magic flow and reliability that Astros have (and fluidiums don't have - regardless of bottle age, use of dimmers etc. imho).

I have 4 first generation fluidium bottles that i want to customize - two i want to just change the liquid for another colour, the other two i want to replace the wax and liquid completely.

If you have had a success or not can you please leave a comment. If you only changed the liquid can you let me know if the wax was 1st or  2nd generation fluidium contents.  They would be very helpful and gratefully received.

Many thanks, Simon

Did one refill. Uses 2 blue/blue astro bottles and the liquid of a clear white astro. It takes almost the whole wax of two astro bottles (maybe enough left for a fireflow) and liquid of one astro bottle. The flow is great. It runs on 30w spot and 40 golfball. Good luck. Btw I used the hot wax in cold fluid method. worked great.

Btw, I sold it on ebay and there was a thread about that lamp here stating it was "fake". It wasnt. OG isnt always helpfull when it comes to selling....

Thanks for that Arne - just what i want to hear!

Arne - one last thing -

Do you think you could get away with the wax from 3 Astrobaby?

Only I desperately want a fluidium refill but money is an issue!

Hmm, I''d say yes. Use two first and then add untill you reached the required level. ...I'm pretty pretty sure it will be enough wax and you'll have fluid of one bottle left...maybe a bit less. Have you done refills before? If not : opening glued cap : run boiling water over the cap and screw off with a towel. Put astrobaby bottles in the fride for 30 min so the hot wax solidifies when you pour it in. Dont run cold water over a hot bottle, hot water on cold bottle is ok. When you poured the wax in just let it run as usual and just wait...dont do anything else coz you are impatient. When the lamp is hot...really hot...apply the cap, so a vacuum builds up when cooling down. Good luck!

Cheers!
