got my ltd edition jubilee astro today and to be honest i am not impressed, surface scratches on the base and the graphics are terrible, whoever paid the £300 for number 1 as going to be disapointed, i got number 6 ........i am not a number, i am a free man... no theres a quote lol

That really sucks - its aufal that a lamp that costs 75 quid has thoes kind of flaws in it :(

I don't really get why somone paid 300 quid just to get number 1 on the certifiacate.

Unfortunately a lot of Mathmos lamps and bottles seem to be suffering from poor quality control ( In my opinion ), This is a real shame for a " Premium product " customer service also seems to have deteriorted over the last 18 months. No idea why :-(

I hate to hear this about Mathmos too .. When i bought my Grandes i had in my back head that at least Mathmos was still doing good, but it seems as though theres no companies left that makes any quality lamps anymore :(

I really think we need to campaign to save / give our views of Mathmos and how they are now - its really disappointing to see these comments about a once brilliant and still decent company.

I will think of something and put something together soon so watch this space.....

Mathmos is our last shot at decent lava lamps. I would get behind any effort to petition them to keep quality up to par. I have not been impressed with their customer service, but I would certainly help where I could to get in contact with them as a group.

I will mind map some ideas and it will be a group effort to help the situation.

Regarding the jublee lamp its really what i was expecting and its not that bad - I still like it and if I get a chance then I will buy it.

I recently purchased a replacement red/yellow Astro replacement bottle via ElectricPlanet, and I was totally shocked when it didn't fit!! the whole bottle was out of shape, it sat really high in the base and easily leant to one side, the cap was the same, and the bottle was all 'wavy', as in it looked like a magnifying glass in some parts.

I emailed electric planet and they said they hadn't had any issues before and could I please send some photos of it! They also sent a replacement one (Red/Violet this time, so not to have the same issue) which was fine. Weird?

My clear/turquoise from Electric Planet - the globe sits wobbly in the base. The base is off, it seems. The letter to Mathmos can't come soon enough...
