Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

THANKS, OOZING GOO FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND INTEREST OVER THE YEARS!

Mandatory post update is MANDATORY.

In addition to the modded lamps that I have been selling, I will soon be offering slow glitter in LOOSE form (not contained in one of my lamps)! A lot of you have been asking for a long time now. The glitter contained in that liquid can be ANY shape you choose, and many colors, including prismatic!

But for right now, you can design your perfect lamp in lava or glitter, at the following rates:

$40 per regular glitter

$45 for replacement color glitter

$50 for lava

$55 for Custom cut glitter in any shape

Post here or in a PM (you'll need to send me a friend invite first) with your color choices. Please also state whether you want a lava lamp or a glitter lamp. I also now offer replacement glitter in 14 colors! There is an additional charge of $5 per lamp for that, but the custom color combinations are almost limitless.

ALSO...I am finally taking orders for custom cut glitter! I can also do cut glitter in virtually ANY SHAPE, so let me know if you want something special! Higher rates apply if you need me to render your design from scratch, but not by much.

- I will make a mockup of the lamp that you requested if you would like, so that you can see it. Then, we'll both be sure we're on the same page, as far as what you want.

- This will be on a first-come, first-served basis, but orders requiring anodizing will have to be skipped temporarily. I hope to be able to mod several lamps in a day, so don't despair too much if you are down pretty far on the list!

- I have a set list of paint colors, but if you really want a color that is not listed, just tell me what color you want, whether you want matte, gloss, satin, metallic, satin, or fleckstone paint...I'll see if I can find it. I know that matte and metallic colors are harder to find in variety though, so be aware of that. I can also seal your glossy lamp with a matte sealer, if you like.

- Once you have made your final decisions, you can send payments to my paypal address. I will then begin work immediately on your order,

Please note - I STILL am not currently equipped to handle anodizing...only unpainted silver bases, and painted ones until then. If you want metallic blue, red, grey, gold, silver, bronze, amber, or black, and do not want to wait, I have metallic paint in those colors. Just state your desires in your post. :)

This order is a statement that you intend to buy, but I'm not a nazi. I understand that life sometimes throws curve balls at us all. Only, if you have to cancel, please do it as soon as you can, to decrease the chances that I've made your order already!

Don't know what happened, Loren - thought I sent a reply this morning but can't see it.  Don't worry about it taking so long, I'm in no hurry whatsoever.  No pressure at all.  Sounds like you have enough to think about already.  I didn't realize how involved the process to create a lamp is.  I admire your perseverance.  I'm glad you haven't given up on the colored glitter too -  that would be so cool!

I know! I just HAVE to figure that out here soon...it would be just too cool!

And since I already had these two orders, I'm going to go ahead and work on them. I didn't get a chance to go to Lowe's or Home Depot today anyway, so I can't work on the anodizer. :(

However, I did get 1 lamp done tonight, and I might as well get the second one out of the way tomorrow before I set sail for anodisia. I'm excited, but a little bit nervous about all those amps of power! @_@ I hope I don't fry myself...

Whoa, I hope you don't either.  Is it unsafe?

Well...I've been told "it won't explode". :-/ Whatever that means. It might catch the wiring in the house on fire, but it won't explode. LOL! And yes, it is fairly unsafe...it uses electricity flowing through water and battery acid. You have to be very careful!

However, I DID get what I think will be a much better power source...it has a middle setting which is 12-30 variable amperage! Woooot! I need 27. If I can get that, exactly, from this charger, then I won't need to make a resistance coil! Just that will make things automatically safer, right there. I'm still waiting for the guy who's helping me to come back online...we'll see what he says. Wish me luck!

I sure do.  I don't want you to get hurt.  If this process is that bad, let me know if you'd rather not, I understand.

Thank you for your concern! I certainly don't want to electrocute myself either, but I have come too far to give up now. I WILL do this...it's a dream of mine to be able to anodise, which goes back way before my thoughts of importing and modding. That was just the excuse I needed to finally take the plunge.

I'm just worried now that I've pissed off the guy who's been helping me by constantly taking my power source back. LOL! So far he's been a very good, very patient instructor though.

If you have sold 15-16, it doesn't seem like you posted pics of that many.  I would definitely be interested in seeing all the combos you make :)

I'm going to sell them until I run out, and then there won't be any more ever. :p

...Well maybe. I bought 100, and I've sold about 15-16...?

I have no idea how long that will take, but it's not likely that I will buy another order.

Is this second one a Yellow Lava, Red Liquid?- that is one I have been thinking about ordering.  If you are making this one, I absolutely want to see finished performing pics!

Well...

I will say that I WANT to get more of them. If there is any way that I can, then I will. :)

And I am indeed closer to anodizing! Tomorrow I have to get a cable, strip part of it down, make a (rather large) resistance coil from the exposed wire, and set that all up in my shop. I also need to pick up some more battery acid. Theoretically, I could be done with the setup and ready for the first test run before the end of the week, but I already have a lot to do for my dad tomorrow, and other duties to perform. Plus I just got two more orders! Yay, I can start work on them tomorrow, hopefully!

But at this point, the anodizer setup has to come first...this has drawn on seriously long enough. I'm ready to get that working, dammit!

I'm sorry it's taking so long. I'm also sorry about the custom glitter. :( I wanted that to work so bad. I still have not tried to order any sodium nitrate online, but I think it shouldn't be too hard. I want to experiment with that stuff! If I can get a glitter lamp working with distilled water, glycerine, and sodium nitrate, then next it's just a matter of finding the right kind of foil in several colors. I haven't given up on that!

I'm kinda proud of myself that I put all this together by myself, planned it all out, and did it...but I bit off more than I could chew. Anodizing has suffered, custom glitter has suffered, my website has suffered...sigh. It would be really cool if I had super powers. :-/

Oh, and here are the lamps for Barlan and Jesse:

I'll make sure the red is a bit stronger in the actual lamp. ;)

Here are Barlan's lamps, including the red/yellow for his friend. :)

I'm having to re-do Drew's 2nd lamp. :( I'll run my mouth about it here soon...

Ok, apparently Jack doesn't want his lamp after all.

I would have appreciated hearing back from you, Jack. :(

I really hate to do this, but...I'm going to have to take payment before I start modding your lamps. :( I really didn't want to do this, but my shop is FILLING UP with lamps that I made for people, and they didn't even have enough respect for me to just let me know...just talk to me. I'm a reasonable person.

Like i said, I hate to do this, but I think most people can understand why I have to do this. I'm really sorry. :(

Yay! Jack got in touch with me! It was all due to technical difficulties.:) ...At least with him. :-/ The OTHER people are another story. Sorry about that, Jack!

You should definitely get payment first. Or at least a 50% non-refundable deposit. Trust me, I've learned the hard way, too.
