Found oozinggoo.com when I was looking for ways to repair the Grande I picked up at CostCo a few years ago. It's one of the Chinese made ones that has gone extremely cloudy and ceased to flow (going to try replacing the fluid one of these weekends).
It was here that I found out about really big Lava lamps. I was bowled over by videos of the Colossus lamps and really want to see if I could get one, I couldn't find them available anywhere so I wrote LavaLite. I wanted to let this group know what I got this from Lava Lite today:
We have a special promo on the Colossus for serious buyers. This will be the last time the Colossus will be seen.
Please see attached promo sheet with pricing included.
If you are interested please contact on my direct line at 630-496-6663.

Sadly these prices are outside of my discretionary funds, even though they include shipping. I post it in hopes that someone here may be interested.

So how are they shipping them now? I need to make the decisions to buy one of these babies.
Safely Bridget - my initial query was regarding my ability to pick mine up in person as I have a pick up and live close to HQ. Susan encouraged letting them ship as she felt it would be a safer option. I suppose that way its also on them in case something bad does happen - they are liable till the lamp reaches my door.
I would hope on the safely part, but then not letting you pick it up is a good sign in that regard.
Just wondering if it would be freight, white glove to the door, or regular UPS etc...
for a lamp that size, I believe freight is required
You're not going to believe this...I'm not believing this...but I've just been over our finances...again. My main squeeze and I got larger tax returns than either of us imagined, our savings will hopefully pay for our medical bills...
...And we're seriously thinking about getting one of these after all.
@_@
Watch them sell out before we can do it now. Just watch.
Suhweeeet!!!!!!!!

See, the table makes it furniture, so it's ok. :p
I just sent an email, asking what is available, and how much. Hopefully they will still have something for us by the time we're ready to take the plunge!
Fingers crossed for ya' Loren!!!

Depends upon the bulb...kinda funny to be heating 10 gallons of liquid with a light bulb I'm using a 300 Watt bulb in a 60 degree room and I get lava tubes within an hour. Then it's calm for the next 3 hours with the occasional lava tube adding to the castle. In the fourth hour the castles' foundation becomes soft and everthing collapses like lumber on the bottom and starts to melt. In the 5th hour I get small liquid blobs squirting out of the pile every 2-3 minutes then turn solid and settle in the pile. By the 6th hour I have full flow and drop the power down to about 30%. Kinda nice to tune it between big stringy blobs and small spheres.
I've noticed that the bottom center of the vase is mostly heating up the water during the first few hours and any goo that comes into contact melts and rises. So if I get impatient for action then I just turn the lamp off for a few minutes then back on then I get a lava tube (I've used this technique to build a castle..image attached).
A blanket on the bottom helps does help it heat up faster as does a tin foil hat on top. I'll try some experiments, but it does make the base very hot and I'm concerned about cooking the wiring. I could also make the room warmer.
