Found oozinggoo.com when I was looking for ways to repair the Grande I picked up at CostCo a few years ago. It's one of the Chinese made ones that has gone extremely cloudy and ceased to flow (going to try replacing the fluid one of these weekends).
It was here that I found out about really big Lava lamps. I was bowled over by videos of the Colossus lamps and really want to see if I could get one, I couldn't find them available anywhere so I wrote LavaLite. I wanted to let this group know what I got this from Lava Lite today:
We have a special promo on the Colossus for serious buyers. This will be the last time the Colossus will be seen.
Please see attached promo sheet with pricing included.
If you are interested please contact on my direct line at 630-496-6663.

Sadly these prices are outside of my discretionary funds, even though they include shipping. I post it in hopes that someone here may be interested.

grrrr!! my bulb lasted 13 minutes last night. Headed to town this morning to see if i can find a bulb.
Hopefully this does not violate anyone's policy.
But i found some web stuff from someone that tells how to make the tables
and have attached in 2 pdf docs.
Eventually, I'm going to make these tables using this guide.
Probably start small/safe with plexiglass for the 'grande' first. Then if i can manage it...laminated
safety glass. Then i'll worry about the colossus after that.
I think perhaps the hardest part maybe be cutting the glass without making mistakes.
I don't think i'll have any issues making the brackets or cutting plexiglass(although it can be tricky sometimes).

I just ordered mine. It doesn't sound like they have many left. I wanted a table but they were out.
Can someone please post picks of the glass piece and table bracket. I would like to try and make one.
Thank you Charlie for the original post. I would have never known about these and I've wanted one since I started collecting lava.
susan told me they get the phillips 250w from home depot
hurry only 16 left blue yellow or clear red!
the red bulb lighting up my red lava is unbelievable! I tried a pic,,but it comes out orange in the camera. The flow right now is lava top to bottom with rounds floating around the columns! I could not be happier at this moment with the globe.
The red bulb really enhances the look of the lava. I agree - it's beautiful!
I LOVE my red/clear! The 5th run of my purple/yellow proved no different from any of the previous runs. Like clockwork, the blob/creature appears after 2-3 hours of flow.
I'm ready for a purple/pink exchange.

I'd love to see anyway! I wish cameras would get it together, already! What good are 3 million megapixels if you can't get the colors right? And did you see the video I posted? About halfway through, you can see exactly what you're describing...just amazing! Someone here posted a picture of a purple/pink with 2 columns going at once, with one going down, the other going up...twisting like twin tornadoes. Inspiring poetry, even. LOL! Anway, I've seen my blue/yellow do this once, but didn't have the camera there.

Wow, I've been looking for info on this for a year...THANKS!

Just ordered a SIlver base with a purple/pink globe. I'm thinking about having the base and cap anodized black for extra Evilness in my Mad Scientist laboratory (library/computer room). :)
I wanted a table but they were out. The above instructions for table creation are useful, thanks. Also, there's a site in the UK that makes Colossus table conversion kits. Just plug lava lamp colossus table kit into google. :)
Ok here are my thoughts on the Colossus, Take it for what its worth lol. I think that the directions that Susan gave are for the old colossus and not these ones. I ran my Lamp since 12 noon yesterday at 50%, and all i got was a statue. So overnight I upped the lamp to 100% when I woke up there was more wax up than down. So i adjusted it back to 70%. it runs perfectly. if you are having wax performance issues I suggest running it at 100% and give it all she got, I think its also because the wax is new and never used. (if these lamps were sitting since 2006 then that could be a factor as well) To break it in you gotta beat it up a little. From what i have also seen through posts and pics that the bulb is lower on these colossus's I wonder if thats because of the 200w bulbs that are not as easy to find. I also think the more you use it the better it will flow. I am soo happy with this lamp, its super clear, no cloudiness and the wax is beautiful. I am so tempted to get another one but my wife would KILL me. lol
Thanks for your post, Don. How long have you been running it now? And what is your date stamp on the cap?
I've tried the give it all you got approach, several other approaches, and the LL quality manager approach, and I still get stuck flow between hours 12-15.
I sent Susan an email yesterday evening requesting the exchange of my purple/yellow with a purple/pink. I really love the purple/yellow when it flows, but need a reliable lamp more. :>)
By the way, I got my second Colossus by making it a Valentine's day present! LOL!
