Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have a white/blue Giant purchased new in the late 90s. It sat unused for between 7-9 years. It says use a 100-watt bulb. I did so - using the only 100-watt I could find that would fit, a round short-neck with a shatterproof coating. The wax gets liquid, but all I get are little bubbles, as though it's not quite getting hot enough. Do I need a flood or spot bulb instead? It hasn't had a bulb for a long time, and I forget what kind I need - just 100-watts is all I know.

yes, it needs a flood bulb to fully heat the wax.

Thanks, Gewn!

what does the giant look like?

Standard 90s Giant Lava, series 3000 I think? That model eventually became the Grande. My Giant is white/blue.

I want the white blue badly. Do u have it on a giant base or grande?

It's most assuredly a Giant, purchased brand-new in the late 1990s, long before the Grande came about. Blown glass globe. I'm sorry, but there's no way I'm trading or selling it.

I would think it needs the same bulb type as the Grande, no?

It's a 100 watt 120volt R20 Reflector bulb.

Yep. It wont flow with a standard bulb.
