Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

As a lot of people here know, I want a giant. Bad. :(

I didn't even think that there was ever a clear/orange or orange/white giant made, but in the last week I've seen/read about both. Well I know I'll likely never find one of these for sale, so what if I collected about 8 #15 or #5 globes, and made one myself?

Is that a crazy idea?

The thought of potentially ruining all of those US made globes...yikes.

But I want one SO BAD. :(

Would it even be the same thing as a giant? Did giants use the same lava as 32oz midnights of the same time period?

Would I have to make sure that all of the globes that I sacrificed to the giant god were from the same year? Ugh...I hope not.

If I found all of those globes for $30 each, which is a good price, that would run me about $240...much less than the $400-$500 I'd pay for a giant (likely NOT orange in color).

Can some of you lovely veteran goo heads supply me with some advice about this?

Has anybody done anything similar?

Sorry for all the questions!

They did make a pink/pink giant that looked orange/white when running but they did not make a official orange white giant. I would look on Craigslist for them, you never know.  Yes the giant formula is no different then the 32 oz globes of those days and yes ideally you want the same manufacturer date for all the globes. Honestly if your that hard up for a giant orange white, just use a grande base and globe. There is not much difference btw the grande and giant. The giant was made a little better (like glass, base etc.) I think the grandes are much easier to seal back up since the giants used a rubber seal with hose clamp (without a screw to adjust clamp) so sealing it is a bitch.

LL claims the giants where a different formula. But I don't see it would not work. I've been thinking of doing a blue/white this same way

Lava has come down in price lately and orange/white will be cheaper to get. Clear/orange is hard to find, so I'd opt for orange/white or anything/white and dye the liquid orange.

Are you opposed to GooKits? I have a clear/orange that I made that way. :)

I should mention my GooKit is touchy and will sometimes run full of bubbles.

Well I guess if your refilling to a color you want it wouldnt matter what the formula is as long as the replacement is all the same year.

The giants do use the same formula as the smaller lamps. It has been a plan of mine to refill a grande with old USA formula, but I have never gotten around to it. Now that I have the money to do it maybe I will get around to making a couple... I would like to do a purple/white giant

A purple/white giant sounds beautiful.

And I am so going to do this...

Especially since I just remembered that I can mix clear/reds and clear/yellows to make clear/oranges.

Uggg lol LL, LL I swear. They need to look into things more, Susan emailed me that they did not, I had asked this too because of the topping off of a giant issue . I trust Autumn and Dr though
