Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

As we all know, Living jewel glitter flakes have a tendency to go clear after a long while and excessive usage. I am wondering what would be a suitable replacement to get that 'living jewel' look? Normal glitter just doesn't compare.

Any ideas?

Yes the flakes in LJ are more "rigid" than the regular thin mathmos glitter.

I don't think we can fix a "toasted" LJ bottle, first because it is very hard to remove the glued cap (I had to cut them when I made my LJ Lunar bottle), second because you can't find either the flakes or liquid anymore.

The only solution is to avoid to have them damaged by heat.

The first LJ were provided with 40w bulbs, then I guess Crestworth noticed the problem and advised customers to use 25w bulb.

I'm using 15w bulbs and it is still running really well (it takes longuer to start but it doesn't produce too much heat).

My advice: you can use 25w if you're running your lamp just a couple of hours sometimes, but if you want to enjoy it a full evening, use 15w bulb.
