Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

My new Heritage neon green Grande just came and I can't wait to plug it up, but there's a cardboard covering over what is probably the dimmer switch wires up the inside wall of the base.   It's right next to that 100 watt bulb, but it looks like it's on there really good.   Am I supposed to take that off?   Sorry for the dumb question.  I don't want or need a fire, but this cardboard cover is fixed in there really good and when I barely pulled on it, it don't move.   I've never seen this and don't know what to do about it.

I'll post some pics of all lamps when I get them going.  All bases are perfect, the globes are too, and all are perfectly clear!!   I'm very happy!

I wear my crown with pride and bring me the 'Head of the Lava King'...lol

This is ground control to major libby. The cover protects the dimmer circuits from excess heat. Do not advise to remove. Do you copy? Been running my giant grande with the same dimmer for quite some time and the neighborhood still stands. :)

Major Libby to Ground Control, copy that, Brad.  LOL   Thank you, Sir!!

Nighty Night, Rocket Man!!  Sweet Dreams and sleep well!   I'll post you some pics tomorrow.  I think it'll take that long for this Grande to get flowing!

I doubt it gets anywhere near hot enough at that point in the lamp to set paper on fire. (If it did, I'd start getting worried about whatever the lamp is sitting on.) However, I would also be very surprised it it wasn't fire resistant, just in case something went wrong and it did get that hot.

I was hoping it was, Pete.  Erin left it on her lamp all night while running, and all is well today, so it about has to be fire retardant.  I hope!!    Pics when all is going, but I still have not learned about the videos.   That YouTube stuff got to me.   I want to post them from my computer.  LOL

Thanks, Alfred.  Brad said that was on there to protect the dimmer circuits from excess heat, so it's heat resistant, no worries.  The lamps have been running for several hours and nothing exciting is happening yet.

UPDATE:

The Red Wizard has no flow to speak of and the red wax is translucent with blobs of what looks like unmelted white like wax inside the lava that is flowing.  Looked like it was starting to overheat a bit, so I turned it down some.

The yellow/red Century spiked to the top, broke off halfway down and left the remainder of the spike in the top of the globe.  There is also some tiny pieces of wax stuck to the sides, but it was like that when I got it out of the box.   Hoping it'll melt when it finally gets hot enough to flow well.

The Grande has flipped the entire blob of unmelted wax up sideways, but the coils are still in the bottom of the globe.   It's not hot enough to do much of anything else yet.  I'll post pics when they finally do something interesting.
