I have a mathmos astro on the way, and instead of rewiring it, I wanted to use a wall socket that it's plug will fit wired to a us plug. I have this adapter already made, but it has no transformer to step the voltage up. So does any one know if this bulb would work well in an astro: http://www.1000bulbs.com/product/5641/DEC-101045.html

This would allow the lamp to remain original, while using bulbs that are readily available in the US.

They also carry a a frosted version of this bulb, and a 40w reflector bulb with the European base.
Anyone try these?

That doesn't step up the voltage though. But, I could use that and then use the 130v bulb I posted the link to, right? Is there any reason the bulb from the link wouldn't work?
The bulb will run very dim without a step up. I have many lamps on the step up but I tryed to run on 110 and it was dim. Mathmos lamps are easy to rewire. The guts pop out, and u can just pop them back in to make it original again
However that bulb u posted in the link mite just work

If no one has tried it yet, I'll order a few next time I order from 1000bulbs. I'll probably just put in a standard E26 or E17 socket, though. What seems to work best in the astros, clear, frosted or reflector?

Maybe one of both clear and frosted. Do u know the age of the globe?

The bulb will work perfectly with the plug adapter you have. You do not need the transformer since the bulb is 130v. I have a few of these myself.
