Sadly enough, I bought the wizard for the base/top color, fully expecting to put another globe on it. I was not disappointed, it's just too temp sensitive. It works really well with a purple glitter globe though, so that's how it's running right now. I took it's globe to work to run daily where I can easily mess with it to see what happens.
I hear you, Bridget. I have one of my extra US glitter globes on my Heritage Wizard base too. All of these new lamps are very temp sensitive, even the Grandes, although they flow beautifully. I didn't even try an old US lava on the new Wizzie base. I didn't think it would get hot enough for anything but glitter. Thanks for confirming that.

Just wanted to post an update (been a busy weekend w/ the holiday)...Got a surprise last week and found Susan sent me a new lamp in addition to the R16 bulb!! Was not expecting that, was expecting a replacement 32oz globe for that cloudy yellow one, and the R bulb, but the box felt a bit heavy for a 32oz globe and a light bulb. When I opened it I found a new heritage century along w/ the bulb...Thanks Susan!!
Now on to the important part...this one's flow is MUCH better than the 1st. While wax does still tend to congregate at the top more so than my other lamps...it comes back down in this one, unlike the 1st one where once it was up there it pretty much stayed there and either hardened or just sat there liquefied. It has some stretchy flow to it too...almost will make a snake from bottom to top at times. I'm on the 5th cycle as of tonight and it seems to be getting better each time. Out of the 3 newer 52oz globes I have this one now definitely beats out the other 2 Premier's that I got from spencer's.
Needless to say I'm satisfied w/ this one. I will get some pics and a vid sometime this week.
great to hear, jeff! what is the cap code on the replacement?
I got my replacement grande today because of the multiplying black dirt in the wax of mine, I talked to Susan on monday which is when she said shed ship one out, i never heard from her again but today it just showed up! Its CRYSTAL clear again, except for white spots ontop of the wax, i think theyre bubbles though. Also two things i noticed about this Heritage grande compared to my other one is that this globe only has 1 big coil vs two (unless I cant see it until it flows) and the other thing is the bulb sits WAY closer to the globe in this base. I mean in my other 2 grandes the bulb is about 3/4" under the rim inside the base, this one is just slightly OVER the rim. There is no contact with the globe. Maybe they did that to compensate for the holes on the base? I hope that doesnt mean easy overheat because i love the fact that my other pink grande flows full blast all the time. My original grande was produced on 29th of sept, the replacement on the 11th of Oct.
Those white things in the wax are normal, I think.
On my heritage grandes, they have disappeared gradually after a week or two of normal, daily use.
Yeah, im not worried at all. I checked them out real close and they look like air bubbles forming ontop of the wax, if i move the globe they float up. Im gonna fire it up now and see how she goes.
My original Pink Grande had those white flat patches on it when I got it too, Rodrigo. They melted on the first run and incorporated back into the wax. What was strange to me was that after several weeks of running this Pink Grande, I fired it up last week and the dreaded white powder immediately came up and fogged the globe. After running on full flow for several hours, it all disappeared and the globe was clear as a bell. I had never had the white powder in either of the Heritage Grandes before. Weird, but it fixed itself....so far. So glad you got a replacement globe, that black gunk was not attractive!!

They've already heard about the extreme temperature sensitivity of the Grandes and are trying to correct it is my guess. If they overheat, you can at least use the dimmer now. My small coil in the Green Grande overlaps the larger one quite frequently, and I have to do the "spin" to fix that problem. Please keep us informed on how this change might affect the performance of the Grandes. I'm curious about that second coil being left out.

Yeah the black dirt definitely wasn't attractive and it showed up more and more too.. This globe only has one coil, but the bulb sits at least 3/4" closer to the globe compared to my other 2 grandes.
thanks for the cap info. it definitely sounds like they made another batch to correct some issues. now that i look, the bulb housing in the base of my heritage grande is very low compared to my other grande base. the lamp barely flows around 70*F, so perhaps the bulb being closer to the globe would fix this issue.
