I did have to move the coil today . sometimes when it starts to heat up it turn upside down with the coil sunny side up which is rather annoying. I have also been running it every day I don't know if that is the problem although my daughters 14.5" has been running every day since Christmas, I have also turned down the heating in our dinning where it lives to see if that would help. I have what I think is a great bargain if it is in great working order and I hope is a Grande which it does look like it is this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181303986099?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&... We will be able to see about putting a dimmer switch onto that one before I do it to my new one I have.
That looks like the wax is detaching from the coil for some reason. If you gently twirl it when it does this do you get flow again?
I don't know what is wrong with the bloody thing lol. I thought it was getting too hot so I bought one of these http://www.diy.com/nav/fix/electrical/lightwaverf-devices/sockets/S... thinking it will work but nothing. It took a lot longer to heat up started doing what it should then stopped. What I don't understand is mot of the lamps they sell on their website have dimmer switches on them but not this one. I am thinking of putting an 80w bulb into it and see what that does.
I have two USA made Giants from 1995. They take quite a few hours to warm up.
I have been cycling these for at least six weeks. At four hours they shoot pea's, then
after two more hours they create a long stream to the top. Better flow when you get
more than eight hours running.
Maybe you should run it longer, it takes MANY hours to get them going.
Your coil looks right...
hi shelley - it appears that the globe is overheating. when the wax gets too hot, it will detach from the coil and hover close to the bottom. try the dimmer you mentioned and let us know if that helps. i also agree with jeff in twirling the globe to get the wax to reattach to the coil. grab the globe by the top and rotate it clockwise and counterclockwise a few times. if it's overheating, it will flow right after you twirl it but most likely go back to hovering above the bottom over time.
