Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

THANKS, OOZING GOO FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND INTEREST OVER THE YEARS!

Mandatory post update is MANDATORY.

In addition to the modded lamps that I have been selling, I will soon be offering slow glitter in LOOSE form (not contained in one of my lamps)! A lot of you have been asking for a long time now. The glitter contained in that liquid can be ANY shape you choose, and many colors, including prismatic!

But for right now, you can design your perfect lamp in lava or glitter, at the following rates:

$40 per regular glitter

$45 for replacement color glitter

$50 for lava

$55 for Custom cut glitter in any shape

Post here or in a PM (you'll need to send me a friend invite first) with your color choices. Please also state whether you want a lava lamp or a glitter lamp. I also now offer replacement glitter in 14 colors! There is an additional charge of $5 per lamp for that, but the custom color combinations are almost limitless.

ALSO...I am finally taking orders for custom cut glitter! I can also do cut glitter in virtually ANY SHAPE, so let me know if you want something special! Higher rates apply if you need me to render your design from scratch, but not by much.

- I will make a mockup of the lamp that you requested if you would like, so that you can see it. Then, we'll both be sure we're on the same page, as far as what you want.

- This will be on a first-come, first-served basis, but orders requiring anodizing will have to be skipped temporarily. I hope to be able to mod several lamps in a day, so don't despair too much if you are down pretty far on the list!

- I have a set list of paint colors, but if you really want a color that is not listed, just tell me what color you want, whether you want matte, gloss, satin, metallic, satin, or fleckstone paint...I'll see if I can find it. I know that matte and metallic colors are harder to find in variety though, so be aware of that. I can also seal your glossy lamp with a matte sealer, if you like.

- Once you have made your final decisions, you can send payments to my paypal address. I will then begin work immediately on your order,

Please note - I STILL am not currently equipped to handle anodizing...only unpainted silver bases, and painted ones until then. If you want metallic blue, red, grey, gold, silver, bronze, amber, or black, and do not want to wait, I have metallic paint in those colors. Just state your desires in your post. :)

This order is a statement that you intend to buy, but I'm not a nazi. I understand that life sometimes throws curve balls at us all. Only, if you have to cancel, please do it as soon as you can, to decrease the chances that I've made your order already!

Okay, here are the designs...how do you like them? I can change them if you want.

Also, were you wanting a painted base and cap? If so, would you like purple for that also? Right now I have a nice metallic purple, and one other metallic called "black cherry" which is kind of a low-saturation violet.

Thanks! I think they are very cute! It looks like the lines of the peace sign might be a little thin, but you know more about how the glitter works than I do. I'm not sure on the base color...will the metallic purple look good with the lamp color or clash? Also, I have a bunch of crappie globes and also many usable bases...so I guess if you could tell me the price info as I am just not positive on that. Maybe your opinion on colors too please. Thanks so much!

Yes, I certainly am!

And I"m really sorry, I've been dealing with family health issues, and my attention has been diverted from here for too long!

What can I make for you?

Just let me know, and I can produce mockups for you, showing what your ideas would look like!

hi Loren, are u still making these lamps? Would like to order 2 custom ones :)

Cheers,

ML

Loren, I have a red metallic Clearview that I absolutely hate!!  Luv the lamp, hate the flow...I want to glitter it.  Any ideas for something that would look sharp?  Do you have the small holographic strand glitter in red fluid?  any other ideas would be welcomed!!

This thread is NOT notifying me whn people respond, and it's driving me crazy! :-/

I am so sorry that I have not seen these responses, I'm still dealing with family issues, but I would love to make lamps for BOTH of you, ASAP.

I need some glitter for my metallic red clearview, but not sure what would look good....

To all concerned:

My father just died recently. :( I had been his power of attorney, property manager, and caregiver for 6 years, but now he is gone. I have been healing, and dealing with issues, but now I am back.

Unfortunately, I STILL can't do loose glitter, and there's no telling if the glitter that I use will work in other fluids.

I'm sorry to have to report this, the last 20-30 orders have been for loose glitter, and if I sell it, I'll be left with about 40 empty globes with bases that I won't be able to sell. I can ONLY sell modded lamps, until I learn how to make slow glitter fluid. I honestly haven't even had the time, let alone the mental & emotional freedom required to experiment with it. Hopefully that will change now.

I am VERY SORRY for letting things fall by the wayside here, but it all got too much for me. I was all depressed and stressed out about my dad, and I HATE telling people "NO", especially over and over again. If I can master this fluid, I can take a lot of new orders...but it looks like nobody wants modded lamps any more. :(

If you DO want a custom glitter lamp, please post here. Now that my dad is gone, I STILL have that nagging "my dad needs something" response constantly, but I can immediately switch it off, because it's not true any more, so I can finally focus on anything else for a while.

So sorry to hear that your Dad has passed.  Take the time for yourself that you need to heal.

Thanks a lot, Haze & Keith.

My dad had not 1 or 2, but 3 chronic, incurable, terminal, progressive diseases for many years now, so I've seen this coming, and have been preparing for it. But then it happens, and you're not prepared for it. LOL! However, my dad had been suffering horribly for years, and that was over, along with the stress and worry that came with it. Now he can see my mom again finally (hopefully), and he's not miserable any more. He passed three weeks ago, so things are finally starting to calm down, and the dust has started to settle on the whole thing. I will never be the same, but after my mom died I learned that things move on, eventually.

I originally started this small modding business for him. I had to quit my regular job to take care of him, and working for myself was the only way I could find to set my own hours, so that I could be there at any time for my dad. He had at least 1 doctor appointment a week which I had to take him to, so a regular job was out. It really worked out great for a while, but then all of a sudden, everybody was making an order and ditching...one after the other. I do not blame people for doing this, things happen in life. Believe me, I understand this. But when it happens so many times in a row, a person can easily get discouraged. Then came the flood of "I need x amount of loose glitter" orders. All I could say was that I was working on it, which I was, but it's just wasn't enough.

There were two main aims of my small business plans, which hadn't been implemented yet: anodizing, and custom cut glitter. I had to give up on the anodizing before I burned my house down, but I finally mastered custom cut glitter, in any shape!

Would you like to know how many custom cut glitter orders I was able to take and fulfill?

One.

I made a few as gifts to friends, sold one on ebay for $10, and sold one that I had made for somebody else who didn't want it any more, but only one "YOU MADE THIS FOR ME, AND I'M SO HAPPY WITH IT!" order, GT's cobalt blue stars lamp. I even put a display in a trippy downtown shop here in my town, with 4 custom cut seasons lamps, and not only did none of them sell, not only did I not get any custom orders from them, but 2 of them were returned to me ruined...I was down 2 lamps on the deal.

I don't say any of this to make anybody feel bad, or to garner sympathy, but simply because I have a lot of real friends here at this point, I feel like I CAN tell the truth, and I want to. And also because a lot of that is now in the past. I will now have the time and inclination to be able to experiment with glitter fluids, and my feelings about myself are not so integrally linked with my success in my business. My dad had given me $1,500 when my sister flew home one Christmas (that's what we both got that year), and I invested that in the original order of unmodded glitter lamps. I didn't make much in the way of profit, especially when you consider the labor and supplies, but I hope that now, my dad can see that, and be proud of what I did with that money. I still have about 40 lamps left!

Sorry, didn't mean to ramble on. :p

Oh Loren, I am so, so sorry for your loss.  I lost my mom 2 years ago and I also was her caregiver, bill payer, you name it, I did it for her.  I also held down a Very demanding job also, was going through menopause and yes, almost had a nervous breakdown from everything going on.  They say time heals all wounds.  I don't believe this 100 percent, but I do think that it gets easier to remember without the hurt, albeit it doesn't ever heal.  I always miss the loved ones that I lost, but we retrain ourselves on how to live without them being physically in our lives, now you have to learn how to live with him being with you spiritually.  They never truly go away as long as we keep them in our minds and our hearts they will always be with us....I still talk to my mom when things get tough and when i'm excited about things...she listens, and I know it sounds crazy, but sometimes I will get a sign as to which path to lead and I know it's from her......

Take your time and remember.....your dad will always be with you....

loren - very sorry to hear about your loss.  thanks for telling us your story.

Loren, I am so sorry for your loss! I think you do beautiful work! I still want to get the Peace, Love, Happiness glitter lamp that you designed for me. I am just hoping to wait until we get our house in order and I can actually go through my 100 or so glitter, lava, and plasma lamps and display them instead of just having them stored.
Peace!
Kim
