Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi,

This is my first post here so sorry it is a request for help, My mum has Inherited a glitter lamp circa 1978 it does not have a bulb and we are unsure specifically what we need, it is I believe a B15 bayonet fitting the only sticker in the lamp base states max 40w I have taken a few photos so I hope the lamp gurus here can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance

Carl

Hi, I'm no guru, but could it be a mathmos jet?

Hi Andy I believe it's a crestworth living Jewel, from what I gather it's a small bayonet 40w golf ball bulb, although I have seen elsewhere no more than 25w recommended

just wanted to say that you can try 25w and 40w and see which one you prefer.  the glitter will move more slowly with 25w relative to 40w.  i'd go with the lowest voltage that gives you the motion you prefer.  great looking lamp!

Thanks for your input Brad, I've picked up a 40w today will try it Sunday when I pop over to my parents, it was £0.99p mathos want a crazy £13 for a practically identical bulb there's is pearl the one I've bought is clear, but otherwise identical

sounds like you made a good choice!

Hi Carl, I shut up fast because I think there was an identical one (just sold on ebay) identified as a "?Jet"

(and no, I didn't buy it.....)

Hi Andy I'm 99% sure it's crestworth it's circa 1978, before crestworth became mathmos but I've got what I think is the right bulb but will only know for sure on sunday

Yes, no argument, I'm no expert at all, as I said!

381412985236 was the item - a load of bids, so i'm guessing some of the bidders thought it was misdescribed and was in fact a vintage model ?? maybe same as yours

good luck with the bulb
