Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

*edit

Any lamp is fair game now, not just the beatles and harley lamps. This thread has grown far beyond my expectations! 0.0

I really dont understand why these are always listed for ridiculous amounts. I see them all the time for $100 buy it now. I have a harley lamp and I want to sell it because I dont like it. Someone locally tried to sell me a beatles lamp for $100. Are these people nuts? Why do they all seem to list them for stupidly high prices?

Anyways I thought it would be fun to see who can find the most over priced harley davidson or beatles submarine lamp.

I am setting the bar really high.

I'm no expert, but I thought those big, floor-standing behemoths were, "the holy grail of the fiber optic world."

If I could get that kind of money for lava lamps, I'd sell my whole collecton

Ethel,

Good find on eBay for this thread!  I just had to help out!

here ya go:

Think he will get what he is asking for?

Good, clear flow to you all,

Jeff

Nope! They didn't get that new, they did want that price new but quickly dropped it. Plus it is most likely a Colossus not a Humungo.

And it's FUGLY

hmmmm, you can say that, but didn't you just get one? (no offence, just a little bit of envy....)

me, I'd have it like a shot, but shipping one to the UK....

I did,and it was Fugley too

The price reflected the condition

It went right to the body shop for dent removal and paint

Looks like a wood-grain colossus base that has been painted, also looks like the globe may have been a black/clear that has lost some of its dye to the water, plus it looks cloudy.  If money was no object I would still pass on this one

I am not too sure, it is hard to tell from that photo, but it might even be the granite finish base with a clear/black that lost some of the dye as Keith suggested.

I think it is likely a black granite colossus base with faded clear black colossus globe....$1000-$1200 max on its best day
Ok....it is definitely a "Black Granite" Colossus style base. The globe is a 16H Black / Clear HUMUNGO. Now it is up a notch in value IMO......but $5500????? I think it is a nice lamp.
