Several members use a package forwarding service that receives the package from the seller then ships it to you. One that comes to mind is
I think there is another one that some members have used also. I haven't used this method but others have and have had very good results.
You could also look for vintage USA lamps (pre-2002) at thrift stores, yard sales, or ebay. But with lamps that old it can be hit or miss.
The USA made ones are good (usually). Since 2002 manufacturing has been in China with major quality control issues, as well as an apparent formula change which Lava Lamp won't admit to.

Thanks Keith, I didn't know there were good USA ones made.
Yep, I have used forward2me in the last several months with excellent results. When you set up an account with them, they send you an address in the UK where you can have everything sent. Forward2me then receives the item(s), repackages if necessary, and sends it on to your address here in the States. It's not exactly cheap, but a lot cheaper than flying over to London! :)
I also have a Crestworth base and cap coming from a UK eBayer. Should be here within the week. Analoghaze is right though, now is definitely not the time to ship lamps. Wait 'til the Fall and use forward2me to buy direct from Mathmos.com.
I just bought it myself on the Mathmos website and had it sent to "my" address that forward2me provided for all my shipments. I haven't used their shopping service.
Thank you! I will save my pennies for that Oak edition! Hopefully it's still available in the Fall!
