Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hello everyone.  My name is Tim, and I am new to this site.  I stumbled across it while looking for information on an old lava lamp that I have had for close to 20 years.  When I was a kid, I asked for a lava lamp for Christmas one year because I had seen all of the new lava lamps that were in stores.  What I got instead was one that my aunt had sitting around in her house. After looking around the web and this site, I believe it is a Saturna #403. I am looking for any information that I can find on it, and possibly a value was well. I have attached a few pictures of it that I just took.

This is a really nice classic American lava lamp from 60's/70's. The Saturna by the Lava Lite (lava simplex) company. These a really quite sought after now. I would imagine value anywhere between $75 and $125, perhaps more.

[EDIT] Nevermind!

I see you saw that already. :)

Saturna lamps are mid 70's models and are a favorite of pretty much everyone. It appears to be a nice lamp just needing a bit of a wipe for a nice shine. I would say $125 in the current lamp market. Enjoy your lamp.

Yep, it's a 403 all right, green lava/blue liquid Saturna, which dates to around 1973 or 74 to maybe 1978 or 79.Saturna is series 400, and 03 is the color, green/blue (the other 70s colors were 02 red/yellow and 06 red/clear).

It's VERY overheated in the photos (using it longer than about 5-6 hours will do that, as shown by too many globs at the top-- or, another symptom is one big glob hovering near the bottom). This is one I'd love to find, as would many collectors-- in my opinion, you got something far better than a new one!
