Well i confess i bought this recently and arrived today, the wax etc is totaly beyond saving, The wax was soft but not liquid like the princess / rocket floor standing, The bottle diameter reminds me of the lunar.
It takes around 5 litres at the moment ive used 2 x Astro wax and filled rest with yellow master fluid but till it melts can say if i have enough wax.
The bottle is like the 70s pickle egg / onion jars, it takes a standard size bulb ive put a 40watt in it and the bulb hangs down like the hunter lamps do with the metal bulb hold ring. attached is pics of comparison, the coil spring is alot bigger than a standard astro in diameter.
As for the metal work its in top condition only couple of tiny pin size taps on the cap, there isnt a base plate and wouldnt have been one.

it is a monster for sure, problem is its been on for 7 hours with a 60watt and Astro wax hasnt melted proberly so havent had a nice blob action yet :-( so may not be able to keep as a lava unless mathmos can make me a special refill, at the moment my new lava is at the top hoping any air trapped will work out so it flops back down..... watch this space
Congratulations Johnny!
well after a long evening with the astro wax and fluid plus 60watt bulb hardly any action, im not happy putting a 75 watt bulb in, i contacted mathmos today and said they have no imfo on the lamp ( not suprised ) and fist said due to that they couldnt say what was in the lamp, i then phoned and said the wax is soft like the princess but no mega runny they said due to the christmas rush to call back next year.
Soooooooo i have replaced the orig wax that i saved well fished from the trash can ( american term / the bin u.k ) and gonna play about with new fluid and that wax and see if i can get something blobbing.
another option is theres them liquid lava tea light lamps the wax is tranparent but maybe go down that line OR fill with glitter

Hi Johnny. There's a guy on EBay, who I have bought some unusual Crestworth lamps from before, has one of these Crestworth Prototypes. He is called clocks-1 & the lamp you have recently bought is his avatar is this lamp
