I ordered a mini goo kit about 2 weeks ago with a few extra dyes and it just arrived. If I had been thinking, I would have ordered the big one. Ugh
Anyway when it arrived the dye was either not sealed or it just melted out and I had a bag full of dye. I have called and emailed pictures but haven't heard back. BTW the goo bottle isn't labeled and I'm not really sure if its the large or small bottle of goo. I've seen other discussion boards showing all their supplies and it's hard to tell if this bottle is the big one or the little one.
It also didn't come with any instructions.
By my calculations I can do two 52oz and one 20 oz with a small bottle of goo.
I don't really want to just guess on how much goo to put in.
Can anyone help tell me how many ounces of goo to put in a 52oz globe?
Help is greatly appreciated!

I simply place a 52oz lamp that's filled next to the lamp I'm going to fill and match the content level. Or when I cleaned out original wax took a sharpie and marked the level of wax it had in before and simply refill to the same level and it's worked every time. I would not worry they will get back to you and will take good care of you. They took good care of me when I too had the same thing happen a couple years ago. And speedy too once we spoke. These things happen especially with it being so hot out.
Thanks The Lamp Caretaker! I appreciate your time, that's a great idea!
Hi where did you order from? I have lost track of the site, and looked recently for it and did not find it.
I have done two different lamps with my goo kit so far. On one the goo came out white and the other lamp the goo is clear. Why is that?
Just wondering. It's no biggie. They actually both look really cool and I'm waiting to dye them.
Ash-Hole, what dyes did you order as the extras? So you are saying one is more clear / gel looking when flowing and the other more opaque / less see through. Wonder if the dyes had something to do with that.
I still haven't added any dye to the lamps. Everything that magma tower sent had melted but the goo didn't actually leak out like all my dye packs. I'm still waiting on my replaced dye packs from magma tower. Do you have an opinion on where else to get dye options? A better selection?
Magma Tower tried to tell me that it had something to do with the heat of the lamps or possibly that the goo had melted before but I don't think either of those are accurate. I really liked the clear goo. I wish it had stayed that way.

That's too bad to hear it happened, I actually don't know of any others' dyes that works with the Magma Tower kits. I have been coming to OG since 1997 but I am not a "know it all" by any means just know some basics and many members have used Magma Tower. I thought generally they are all supposed to go more opaque after the first few uses. But I have seen pictures and videos where some do look more clear than others...I always wondered why that was. And whether the cameras were making it "look" more pronounced than so in person. I have never ordered / used a kit, because I am a little OCD making decisions before committing to a project. Therefore I think why I never ordered LOL.
I really want to order a kit and add on Aqua for my empty Astro baby bottle, Orange for a 52oz, and make Teal for a 52oz... (which should be mixing Blue and Green). I will share my experience after I order and get them done!
The dying process has me really nervous too. Magma Tower told me I could try candle dyes but they wouldn't "condone" it. Everyone I have talked to on here that has given me options hasn't actually tried them and that makes me super leery. It's been a month since my Magma Tower order was ruined and I'm getting pretty impatient and annoyed. I currently have 5 lamps waiting for dye and now all my original plans have changed. They are saying the package will finally arrive tomorrow and I'm hoping I don't have the same experience all over again.
I'll let you know what happens. Wish me luck!

Thanks Dennis! But I've definitely had a huge set back. I had 5 lamps waiting on dye and while I was waiting on my replacement dyes, I decided to build a table to display some of my lamps. Well I got the table finished and put 9 lamps on the table. Seven of them were 52 oz, 1 grande, and 1 Excalibur. I turned them all on and checked them about an 2 hours later and all my goo kit lamps (that had great flows before) now are sticking and running weird. My only guess is it's because of all the heat from all the lamps. But it's a total bummer. So now I start over but at least I've got my dye now... Something to look forward to. Hopeful that doesn't get messed up too. I'm really nervous about the dye step... The mixing of colors freaks me out.
But I appreciate your input and knowledge! Thanks for letting me vent. Hope your doing well!

If the goo is sticking to the glass then you really need to start over. When it sticks it's usually because the glass wasn't clean enough and the surfactant didn't last to keep the barrier of slickness in laymans terms. You need to To start over . REALLY CLEAN bottles out good with hot water, dish soap and and use a bottle brush and get every inch . I even use Krudkutter spray with a brush and hot water and then the soap . Rinse and make sure you spray your bottle with the surfactant solution with the coil in the bottle and move it around to get it evenly coated dump the excess and fill your bottle with the goo. After it sets top off with your surfactant water solution . Hope this helps . Actually I had to do the same thing a couple of times and found the answers here in the forums. Unfortunately for me it was a 5' tall tube! There's a lot of knowledgeable people here! Check out the Archives.
