Any Guides on how to create lava lamps at home?

Basically bought a lava lamp from aliexpress. The lava was sticking to the glass.
I open it andtook the liquid out. My dad then thought that using fire to melt wax was a good idea, so now I have a even more broken lava lamp (don't worry about the money, I got my money back after opening a dispute).

I don't want to have a broken lava lamp laying around because I never had a lava lamp or even saw one working, even thought since we were kids, me and my brother wanted a lava lamp. 
Also my dad wants to create a few using some old bottles and I don't have anything to do now since I'm on break from University

Of course I already did my research but most tutorials I find are really incomplete and the search bar on this forum doens't work that well,

So can anyone link me some tutorials or give me a basic idea on how to create the lava and the liquid?

I'm heading out now to buy some Epsom, PERC and paraffin :)
