mathmos lunar - I need one!

hello folks!

I'm from germany and new to oozing goo. I know most of you are from the us and uk but maybe you can help me getting one of those lovely mathmos lunar lamps.

I first noticed these beauties in the early nineties and immediately fell in love ;-) but at that time I couldn't afford buying one...and now mathmos doesn't produce those lamps anymore.

do you have some hints for me? I'm always having a look at ebay, but the prices there are unbelievable...the people pay double the price for a used lamp the lunar originally was sold for.

Hallo, mit dem Kauf solltest Du nichts überstürzen, früher oder später bekommst Du schon eine.
Fall's Dir eine Angeboten wird laß Dir Bilder mit Details der Lampe schicken sonst ärgerst Du Dich hinterher.
Bei den Flaschen hat Tom recht, da kommt es auf den Zustand an, da soll es Leute geben, welche selber "panschen". Gibt es ja noch als Ersatzteil bei Mathmos.

One or two very very lucky gooheads have been lucky enough to snap one of these lunars for less than 200 pounds. You have to be very cunning in how you search on ebay especially if the seller has not mentioned the words 'mathmos', 'lunar' or 'lava' in their auction, which is fairly unlikely.

die flasche is mir auch gar nich soo wichtig. gibts ja wie gesagt noch als ersatzteil (wenn auch nur in violett-rot). das gehäuse ist mir da schon wichtiger. wenn das in einem neuwertigen zustand ist kann man dafür auch mal etwas mehr abdrücken...

eine lunar neu und ovp? wo gibts denn noch sowas? nur mal aus interesse, wo liegt der preis für das riesenbaby? wäre sehr geil wenn du vielleicht ein bisschen deine fühler für mich ausstrecken könntest.

die grünen/blauen flaschen gibt es doch gar nicht mehr als original ersatzteil, oder hab ich was verpasst?

bohdan, the lunar always was and always will be a hot item. if mathmos would restart producing them everyone would totally flip out %)

I found lava lamps in counter culture shops that sell things like incense old 70' style retro. places that sell records old memorabilia or antiques and glass pipes. and there are 2 on ebayUK right now

today a lunar located in berlin was sold for 1140usd. unbelievable.

That one went for 900€, and today one was sold for only 400€, with a blue/green bottle. It seemed to be in fine condition to me. Anyone here that made the bargain?
