Hi There,
the metallics I had were original mathmos metallics, nothing selfmade. But there seem to be several ways to create metallic wax. One is the sharpie way Dr What came up with (as far as I know) and you just put the contents of a few silver sharpie markers into the wax and the other way would be adding a small amount of the liquid metal motion lamp wax into your wax. They are china brand and they are easily available in the us. They have so much metallic stuff in them that a small amount is enough to end up with the nice metallic surface the mathmos ones had. If you have any questions about mixing, pouring, transfering etc. feel free to ask.
All the best
Arne
