Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi everyone, first time posting for me and I have a couple of problems which I need help with.

First off, I bought a lovely floor standing lava lamp. Everything was running perfectly until the bulb needed changing. So, after checking what kind of bulb it needed, I scoured the interweb in search of a new one.

Now the bulb in question which is needed is a 50 watt E14 R50. Can I find one? You bet I can't! The closest wattage I can find is a 40 watt or a 60 watt. So I went for the 40 watt, which works to a degree, but takes about six to seven hours to get wax flowing properly!

So my question is, would a 60 watt bulb be more efficient or would it damage the casing in some way? Or if any of you guys could tell me where I could get a 50 watt bulb, that would be awesome.

Secondly, I have found my old Mathmos jet lava lamp in my parents garage. It's been there for sometime and has gone cloudy and the wax has crystallized somewhat. So I'm looking for a link to a good guide for me to refill and give it a new lease of life. I'm also thinking of respraying it.

Let me know guys, and thank you in advance!

Call your local specialty lighting shop and they will find your bulb.  It's what I did to find bulbs for my HUMUNGO.

I say this because I tend to know where to find rare bulbs but this bulb is tough to find.
