Comment by Critter on June 10, 2014 at 5:28pm: Personally I think I would open this lamp take a specific gravity reading of the fluid then replace the fluid with distilled water adjusted with salt to match the original specific gravity. I would add surfactant of about 24 ounces (I make my own surf usually) but 24 oz of M.T. surf would be fine. Then dye the fluid to my taste.

Comment by Critter on June 10, 2014 at 5:19pm: It would be best to ship a Colossus during cool months and to have it strapped in an upright position on top of a pallet. This is how L.L. shipped them and for this reason I suspect.

Comment by Critter on June 10, 2014 at 1:25pm: Filtering 10ish gallons will be tough with a ceramic filter as I find they plug quickly even when filtering small globes. You can clean the and unplug them but I think it will be one hell of an endeavor.

Comment by Jeff on June 8, 2014 at 10:07pm: I wasn't able to locate a filter that doesn't have carbon in it...the one I have now has a non-removable carbon piece in the ceramic cartridge...I didn't realize carbon was a no no until after it was too late and I ended up messing up the lamp I tried to filter. Luckily that one was just a clearview I got for $6. I also dunno where the heck I'd put this much fluid...these hold about 10 gallons right? I'd have to get 2 of those 5 gal water cooler jugs I guess and pump it into them, then back into the lamp via a filter if I can find one.
