I understand your concern, caretaker, but the lamp is fine and works great. As far as the "award"  goes it was just a contest on LL's facebook page. I believe it was titled show us your custom lava lamp. I showed this lamp and my pink floyd lamps. The prize was a 50th anniversary grande which I ended up winning. Sorry if you went thru the trouble to reach out to LL and they made you feel like a loon :-/

Lamp caretaker I simply think he posted information on lava lamps Facebook page and he won a free Grande for his Ingenuity it does not mean they awarded him a real award or certificate they used to have contests on that Facebook page all the time

My concern with your lamp is that it has not undergone stress tests as in if its burning and someone opens a door in the winter and cold air rushes in will the glass fracture or explode which tends to be the cast with candles and glass.  They usually crack or shatter not to mention that over time heated liquids begin to create their own gases and if not tempered accordingly again can cause injury or quite a mess. When you say you won an award from lava lite I looked into this and they claim they gave now awards for this design and flat out called it a dangerous hazard.  Can you tell us more about the award and who awarded it to you. Id like to see the official certificate.  LavaLite is denying awards given and flat out treated me like a loon for asking.  I informed them that there was a lamp online on this site claiming so and they actually seemed pissed hearing about this.  Can you show us who gave you the award and the award itself and lamp you received.  I would love to call them back and prove them wrong.  Serious.
