Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Ive had mine since begining of december and part from the heating plate falling out ( unstuck) ive had no problems with the lamp,  last few days it seems to take longer to warm up and throw the tree like shapes of solid wax, its been on 2 hours and all ive got is the main wax lump slighty melted so its tipped up on one side , how long are yours taking to heat up and blob

it took2.5 hours to start actule blobbing like normal lamp, the room is warm , i put a jet on and withing 30 mins it started the throwing of wax lumps up and thats only got a 25watt bulb in it, my normal astro takes about 40mins before the warm up starts,  im concerned as during december it was alot quicker

What's the room temperature like ?
It could be a sign of the heating plate failing ?
Mine took upto 3 hours when it was new and the weather was very cold. But when the weather warmed up a little it still takes 2 hours. Seems a bit silly when Mathmos recommend that you only use it for 6 hours.
When we first used ours they took a good couple of hours plus in a 21-22c room. Then after a few runs they were very quick to warm up. They would start to tilt within 15mins or so, around one hour later they would be running normally. Sorry I cannot give you a more precise time as I cannot test them for you as they were returned.
I think they're quite sensitive. I know lava lamps generally are, but these are extreme imo. Mine didn't work properly the first few goes, now it's fine. Takes about 2 hours. How long do people leave them on for? The room really does have to be warm. x
I used to use mine for around five hours from first turning them on, never more than the stated maximum of six hours.
