Does the cut out of the camel mess with the time it takes this lamp to flow or do I have a bad lamp running on 40watt bulb. The lava does not appear burnt. Help please.

Can you post some pictures? I'm assuming your globe is from 1999-2000 as thats when they did the 52oz Camel series. That batch of globes really needed to be broken in. Did you just get the lamp? Probably sat dormant for many years. ):
spike 4 hours 9 hours
I bet ya anything your bottle cap is marked either '99' or '00' ? Anyway, those late blue/clear's didn't flow well until they were broken in. Others may not agree with me but I would run the lamp with a 60w bulb for about a month and see if that helps it. I would say no longer than 6 hours. This should help break in the lamp. Good luck!!!
Got it in a regular 52oz base no cut out, clear 40 watt bulb, moving better, still a little slugglish. The cap is a printed lava lite, (big number is) 113D (1s trow little #) 021243P (2nd row little #) 121702 (big end #) 2 these are printed on the cap not a paper sticker.
it's from 2002 then
Yeah that's a 2002 globe. Probably the worst year for USA globes unfortunately. The 113D means blue clear 52oz just so ya know. Anyway, trying running the lamp with a 60w bulb for a month and see if that helps.

i have a newer lamp (not shure of the year but i think early '00s) that i got at a thrift store that would do the same thing. it would make a blob but it would never rise. i put foil around the inside of the base to act like a reflector and it flows now. still not that great but at least it does something now.
UPDATE: the lamp had 2 globs in it every time I try to sneek up on it stays in a colunm. It was seen by my husband and son but when I they there it just sits, I think it has a mind of its own and does not like me. LOL !
I would pop that puppy open and add some epsom salt mix to it..that will make the water heavier and the wax will rise..then, if it doesn't flow to your liking you could add a drop of SLS or dish washing liquid to it and see what it does.
It is picking up speed a little at time when running. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
