I knocked over my mom"s rare purple/clear Camel promo lava lamp and I need to fix it if possible.
One pic is with distilled water, after trying to add dissolved pickling salt to it.
The other is what the wax looks like after I poured that water out.
Is it possible the wax is no good?

I did this for my OLDER Centuries. Don't know if it would work on new ones, but I bet it might.

Thanks, I will give this a try and post what happens.
Ok I have my lamp on its base and its heating up. I added my surf but so far all it has done is slightly raise the level of my lava even though the wax is completely melted. I am worried if I keep doing this it will detach from the bottom like it did in one of my past attempts
You don't need to add much surf at all - too much and the wax will just be very blobly so don't add any more surf.
The thing to do now is to add the salt or PG to increase the density of the water so the wax will flow - add in small amounts at intervals when the lamp is fully heated until it starts to flow correctly.
If your using Epsom salts I recommend these be dissolved first (about 2 table spoons to half a pint) add this bit by bit (you don't have to add it all) until it flows properly.
My suggestion is to quit opening your lamps so soon and tampering with them. This is the second lamp you have messed with and had bad results. Most problems will fix themselves by just running the lamp. Running the lamp at least four weeks every day should always be the first thing you try. If after four weeks you see absolutely no improvement, then open them.
I did not open this one. When it was knocked over the metal cap literally burst off
