I'm sure a lot of you already knew this, they posted a similar article on their facebook. Lifespan brands... I gotta say, Lava lamps and bathroom scales... quite an interesting mix of product.

And they continue to wander in the wilderness. Hopefully, it won't be forty years.
That is just great! Instead of us, "Lava Lite", making a fantastic line up of a unique item, let us make several line ups of crap!
Yeah, that makes sense now. Instead of perfecting the original product they screwed up by sending manufacturing to China, and producing a quality product again, as the original was, they, "Lava Lite" want to produce many lines of substandard crap. Why doesn't the CEO of the new "Lifespans" listen to the customer base of the existing company and produce or improve the original product to compete with it's leading competitor Mathmos! Guess that would make too much sense.
this is a common occurrence in business. it's like budweiser being owned by anheuser-busch InBev, etc. they are breaking up the company which prevents someone from suing lava lite and taking their assets for a problem with a bathroom scale. regardless, it sounds like they will just be selling more chinese-made junk.
"Lifespan Brands will continue to make and sell lamps under the Lava Lite brand, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, has a licensing deal with The Beatles, and remains popular with college-age consumers, according to CEO Clay Farnsworth. (Lava Lite LLC)"
So the new site for lifespan went live today... check out the page on Lava - there seems to be some new 20z (surprise!) Halloween lamp and a wine themed 32oz lamp on the horizon. They really love those shrinky-dinks. LOL

I'm curious if that spider lamp is some sort of resin or a crappy decal that includes the globe, a la beetles lamps...
What the what. So weird.
I feel like the wording is off on this:
"It is one of the most recognized consumer shape and brand of all time."
I agree - they have a separate page with the leadership staff and I was reading about the product line designer... before Lava, she worked for Claire's... so there's that.
I think this is the final "nail in the coffin", so to speak, for me on lava lamps from Lava Lite/Haggerty/Lava Lamp/LIFESPANBRANDANDSCALES
I agree Crit, I'm in sales and marketing myself and now they have TWO websites that are a total disaster.
I am also in marketing and the whole thing looks like a hot mess to me. Their marketing has been utter crap for years, but then again, crap product, crap marketing, etc. They just don't care.
