Hey. I am new here to oozinggoo and I am looking to collect more from 1990s-Current Year. The older lamps are too expensive for my budget and personally I like the newer lamps with pop culture references or unique art on the base, cap, and/or globe. If you want to make some extra money just post/pm me what you have and I might be a buyer.

You want to stay away from the china trash out there, unless you want to or get into redoing lamps. Anything pre 2003 should be good. After 2003 lava lite sent everything overseas and the quality went to crap. There could be bargains to be had, good luck with the search. Plenty of great people here will surely chime in. Welcome aboard.
I just started seriously collecting around the end of 2018. It’s true that the new lamps are kinda bad. I ended up returning a whole bunch Spencer’s, Target and Amazon. However, I still enjoy some of the newer lamps, you just have to be careful. I especially like the glitter lamps, they seem to be better than the new lava ones. You can find the older lamps for great prices still at thrift stores, Craigslist, eBay, etc. Happy Hunting!
I try to stay away from the 14.5" ones I have had very bad luck with them. I haven't had a problem with any of the 17" ones (yet) I got from Spencers. I've been scouring the 2nd hand sites and will make my rounds to the thrift stores. I've been lucky to acquire some lamps that I don't want at the moment in my collection to fund my addiction lol.
I recently got a Cranky the Clown and Devil base from a Facebook Marketplace ad. I am probably going to sell those pretty soon.
One advantage of staying with the 17" lamps is you can use the older (and normally better flowing) USA made globes with the newer graphics themed bases. Good luck with your hunt!
Thanks! That is a good idea.

I also started my collection and growing obsession toward the end of last year. I have about 7 new lamps, 2 of them were defective. I do enjoy the ones that work well, although 5 of those 7 run hot and have to be on dimmers. Quality control appears to suck royally.
I am also just starting to work on them. My first project is coloring the goo of a globe I got off Craigslist for $5. I bought some wax coloring at a craft store and it worked really well. I am now trying to change the cloudy water.
After that, I am going to try a goo kit for a few empty globes I have acquired, but I am a bit scared because people have said the quality is not at all what it used to be.
