Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Wondering if anyone has ever seen this? Bought this lamp and  turned it on and about 3 hours in this happened. Stayed that way for several hours so I turned off the lamp. In the morning the lava was in the exact same state. It never flowed. It looks completely hardened.

I let one of these go on Ebay ($49 all in Buy it Now) then regretted it so I bought this one for $24. Good thing I saved the $25!

One of my china 52 oz lamps does this same thing I just left it on all day and it begins to flow I dont know how to fix this good luck

Thanks. When I turned it on this morning it all went back to the bottom. I just put it on a Starlite base and I'm going see what happens.

So it works on the century base. Lightbulb is same wattage. Why would switching bases make a difference?

I don't why it would make a difference that's interesting though I might try it later with mine glad it works now

Amazing what a little difference in space between a  bulb and the globe will do?  Check and see if there is truly a difference?

I'll have to check out the difference in space.

Upon second look, the only difference I see is the bulb on the Century is 60W 120V and the bulb on the original problem base was 60W 130V. Looked it up online and the 130V actually runs cooler. Could be that too.

I'll run it with the 120V on the original base tomorrow and see what happens. If it doesn't work then it maybe be the space differential.

Took the 60w 120v bulb out of the century and put it in the black base lamp and it 's flowing. The only thing I can think of is 120v vs 130v. That's the only difference.

Hope this helps someone else. I would've never thought of this.

Thanks Kaden and Mr. Magoo for your replies and input.

Your welcome glad I could help

Ditto.
