Hello all
I have a 52 oz LL globe that overheats literally within an hour of starting to flow.
The wax gathers up at the top, primarily in small bubbles shapes, and doesn’t come down, just like in an overheated lamp.
I even now use foil on the bulb to block some heat (read on another thread) and it STILL OVERHEATS!
As a result this lamp is the odd one out, and is always the first to be shut off sadly (and it’s my favorite one) :/
I now question if this is a density problem ??
Can I replace like an inch off the LL master fluid with distilled water to fix the density? Would adding distilled water lower the density of the wax?

Adding distilled water wouldnt do anything to the wax, it would reduce the density of the master fluid (reducing it's weight) which would make the wax apear havier relative to the masterfluid but the wax isnt affected in its properties by altering the masterfluid. I'd go with a dimmer as well and maybe leave it on even though it seems to be overheating. Some haggerty bottles start doing this "many small blobs" bs and need a while to flow properly.
A dimmer only efficiently saves electricity if it's something like a five step transformer with each step tapped into a certain point of the secondary winding so it's basicly behaving like 5 separate transformers. The plug in dimmers (the ones which tend to be humming the lower you turn the output power) simply convert a lot of the unused/unwanted power into heat but the overall energy consumption stays almost the same as it would be without a dimmer... for instance if you lower an incandescent bulb from 60 to 30 watts it wont be half as bright but only roughly 25% as bright. Using a lower wattage in the first place is absolutely the better option when saving electricity is desired...dimming will enhance the lifetime of incandescent bulbs by a lot though!

Have you tried a plug in dimmer?
I have a clear turquoise that goes mental. But my dimmer quietens this down quite substantially plus saves electric.
Or try a lesser wattage bulb.
To be honest it's a beautiful bottle I wouldn't mess with it.
