Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Someone knocked something heavy on my 1989 Model 8100 (nominally 32oz -- I think it's called "Midnight" on this site) and the neck of the bottle broke off.
I've reattached it with Loctite glass glue. Thanks to hints here I managed to find the correct density of brine, and satisfactory dye and detergent. My problem is because of the mechanical advantage no matter how well the glue sets if I screw the cap on tightly enough it pulls off the repair, even when it has negative pressure (that is, I screw it up while hot.) I tried putting a quarter behind the rubber gasket in the cap, but I can't make a good seal.
This leaves me with a nice lamp, but once it gets hot, vapor escapes, and the water level is dropping over time.
Any ideas how to make it gas-tight again?
The break is just below the threads on the neck. Also a piece of glass came out below that, but it glued well. Perfect conchoidal fractures, no missing bits, and I cleaned everything well before applying just a small amount of glue.

personaly i think its pretty risky to use a bottle that has been broken due to when the bottle heats up there will be pressure inside it which i expect will blow the glued repair off, why not just buy a new bottle? it be alot safer as most instructions with lamps state not to use if dropped , cracked etc.

+1 here....get another bottle, they're everywhere.

I agree, replace the bottle.  One thing to add though, if your screw cap is still intact KEEP IT.  They are hard to replace.

OK, you have all convinced me. (Yes, the cap and liner are in good shape.) Thanks for the advice.
Where would I buy a bottle? I looked in the Buy/Trade/Sell, and it seems to be mostly "Buy". Am I missing something?

Ebay, craigslist, thrift stores.  You may have to buy a whole lamp.

I've got everything in good shape but the bottle. I'm trying to achieve some sort of cosmic balance
