Hello fellow oozers!
First post here, been lurking this sub for quite a bit looking for fixes for my lava lamps I'm trying to fix up, however to no avail, I couldnt find any discussion of people with similar experience.
So I tried to change this silver lava lamp liquid which has turned cloudy. Followed all the guides found on this site and other websites (dish soap and slow drops of epsom salts). However, the outcome has turn out unexpected.
Does anyone know if this is the salt issue or surfactant issue? The lava has turned very runny and tend to rises in a column instead of rising and splitting apart in blobs. Bear in mind, when I put back the original liquid the lava turned back into the 'normal' blob shapes.

I personally love the Column, snaking, tornado flow expect of the lamp flow. Don't particular care for the one ball up one ball down flow. Adding a touch more surf should help break the columns up, but don't over do it cause then you could have that lava break up into many little balls. Should do the trick, keep us up to date and welcome to the OG where you addiction just gets worse!
MaGoo!
I do agree with you. Looks much more lively. Although the current "texture" makes it off-putting for me. Was gonna add more surf until the bulb decided to burn out! I'll have to order some bulbs (they're a rarity nowadays aren't they). Will update again in a bit. Thanks for the warm welcome!
