Rare Chrestworth Living Jewel.???

Hello all. Does anyone know more about this Crestwort Living Jewel I just bought for a steal..? This one deviates from all pictures I have found so far.... The base has got a chromed bottom instead of the usual black... The switch is on the base instead of on the wire.... It has got an eu plug And at last.. a B22 socket, not a B15 socket.. I think I have resolved the mistery of the transparant glitters.... due to overheating wit a 40w bulb the glitters have lost their metallic shine..... it has disolved... Any info is very welcome....

Was it a UK eu 3 pin plug, or a continental eu 2 pin plug?

I've seen several similar designs in France.

Pour it through a sieve to remove the old flakes, and you should be able to re-use the fluid if you don't mind it being a little discoloured. or you could always add a little dye.

I think it has been rewired...  the plug looks new....

I have been looking for new flakes but the old ones seem a little bigger than the old ones....

I would suggest finding a used glitter lamp that matches the same size flakes in your lamp. Drain the used lamp using a screen filter then rinse the flakes and let dry.   Add to current liquid after removing fried glitter flakes or completely replace the liquid and glitter using vintage glitter and liquid from another used lamp.  I own a lot of glitter lamps and for some reason new glitter flakes do not seem to keep their chromatic effect after prolonged usage due to the heat of the lamp cooking chromatic coating off once the lamps liquid gets too hot.  I mentioned some time back that I purchased two grande lamps worth of liquid and halo flakes from a seller here on oozing goo only to have the chromatic coating on the halo flakes disappear after a year of normal usage and only using a 45watt bulb even though lamp calls for 75Watt.  Vintage glitter lamps glitter seems to work best as I've not seen any chromatic coating come off after replacing.

The old ghost flakes seem to be somewhat larger than usual...

It looks like only Mathmos used the lager flakes... it will be harder to find those....

I used vintage fantasia glitter lamps  glitter in mine and they look the same size.

I know mathmos uses/used those big metallic flakes, have a fluidium full of them!  Good luck with restore and keep us in the loop!
