Night of the Hunter

This is a group for those who have an interest in the so-called Hunter lava lamps named after their founder, Mr John Edward Hunter who attempted a patent on his Sata-Lite model in c. 1970. Later version was called the Sparkle-Lite using glittery strands in the liquid. They came in various designs but more or less one size and with only one bottle type but numerous colour combos in both wax and sparkly strands to glitter.

Welcome to night of the Hunter Flip. Nice to have you here. There should be an option to add a picture in the text box. Good luck.

Does anyone know what fluid is used to fill up a Sata-Lite glitterlamp?

As I earlier wrote I have bought a Hunter lamp lately

I already checked up the electrics and removed some dents so now its pretty good to look at.

The fluid contains glittering fibers and they are great to watch and the move around the entire fluid within a minute after starting.

Only thing I have to solve now is te Fluid level. Some of the original fluid has evaporated over the years.

does anyone know what fluid I can use for this? I know already i cannot use water.

I read some article and it said solvent but I dont know what this is?

I've heard rumours of a patent for the Sata-Lite being unearthed online but I've not had any luck finding it myself. I don't suppose anyone can point me in the right direction? I find the mystery around these lamps quite intriguing and hope to unravel more of the story behind them.
