Comment by StickStoneBone on December 5, 2009 at 11:57pm: A Surfactant changes the surface tension of the water and affects the flow of the lava. If you use too much it gets floopy and stringy, too little and it doesn't flow well at all. At least that's been my experience with surfactants, I prefer not to use soap it causes too much emulsification. I've wondered if the Lava Louie kit surfactant is a soap, but I doubt it.
