Just wanted to pass along some information I discovered on Friday 5/21/10. I called Magma Towers at 562-602-2842 to talk to someone about the goo kits and learn a little more. Here's what I discovered by talking with Lizette. By the way, she answered the phone, unlike Lava World! Ha!
I understand that the goo kits may be offered on eBay as early as next week, Wednesday 05/26/10. Lizette is waiting on some final touches to the plan.

In questioning her about the kits I found out two things. One was that she thinks the kit will be offered with green, yellow and blue dyes. Red will be a custom dye at around $5 USD additional. I thought that was odd. Anyway, wait and see what shows up on eBay.

I also asked what they use to dye the water with after the surf is added. She says they have never colored the water. Has anybody ever made a lamp with a goo kit using food coloring or such? Seems it might mess up the specific gravity balance set up in the goo from the factory. Either way, I'm looking forward to trying my hand at it in the near future. I have a 32oz. globe calling my name.

Hm and how should i do this? Pull water out, warm up the goo and pull it out. I think this will not work so good.
At the first days the goo was not baked / glued at the bottom walls.
Thats my second kit and i put a lot of money in shipping to Germany...

In the manuel is nothing written that i should rinse it out with surfactant?!
I rinsed it out with destillated water, ad the coil an put the warm goo in it.
Put destillated water in it and ad 50ml of surfactant

I have a little problem. After 1 week of use the flow gets bader and bader. I use a 100W Bulb with a dimmer. I think 80W ore so. The goo gets a lot of water bubbels in it and at the bottom baked some goo at the glas. At the bottom is soemthing white, i dont know what this is. The goo bubbles get back to the bottom but they wont go together than before. So i get only small and not many bubbels.
The flow from my mathmos is better and i use it daily since 10 jears.

When it gets more bad i will sell the lamps. im very dissapointed.

Great job J Chow - well done on getting a blue that's not too dark too! I just did a grande and an astro on the weekend as well and it is a bit of fun hey. I hardly added any blue to the astro and it went waaaay dark... still looks good though, but I was aiming for a light blue... anyway, I can't believe how good a grande looks with a goo kit - absolutely stunning! Great job and congrats to Gus and magma tower for such a good product and brilliant service. Can't wait to get my next kit in a couple of weeks :)
