Mathmos Glitterball Refilled Successfully...

I have successfully refilled a Mathmos Glitterball Lava Lamp with pure 100% (not diluted) Glycerin.

 

It works perfectly.

 

I loosened the cap, gently poured off the existing liquid and refilled with pure Glycerin leaving enough room for expansion at the top.

 

My cloudy Gliiterball that was two inches low is now…

Mathmos Glitterball - NEED HELP FAST!

Hi, I bought a Mathmos silver glitterball on ebay. Plugged it in and the bottle had a crack and leaked all over. I salvaged 90% of the glitter and liquid and put it in a spare bottle I had. I need help with the following:

 

Why so smelly? The glitterball liquid was like syrup and smelled really nasty.

 

What is that inside of the bottle that smelled so bad and Is that smelly stuff toxic?

 

What can I use to top it off? It's about two inches…

Things in threes?

Well was having a rubbish day, so decided to trawl the local flea market and charity shops for some globe lampshades for a deco ceiling fitting. Had no luck with that but found a Telstar for a fiver. Was very welcome as I was having no luck on Ebay, the last one I was looking at just jumped to £18. Little dissapointed by the lime green wax/clear colour and was going to swap in a red/violet, but now I've got it plugged in and working I've completely changed my mind.

how do you guys take such good pics of lava lamps. All my pics end up with white out, you can't even tell what color the lava is. Thanks  Mike
